WCR: was another loud night last night but I also know she conked out on the bed with me again early this morning. That's always nice. Now she has ate her breffus and she got a dental treat this morning. I hope we have a good day today ... these pink amps numbers are driving me crazy. She had been doing so good with yellow amps numbers and then these pink come and they don't ever go away.

On a side note, I was wondering if anyone can spare a good thought or two for peter. He was recently diagnosed with hemochromatosis and the treatment for it is going to be weekly blood draws for a year and his first one will be this afternoon. I'm sure they will go fine, but I'm also sure after a few weeks his arm's are going to look pretty sore. So any good thoughts on that will be appreciated!

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

just be careful with those dental treats!! We used to give them to our cats, but when Moonie got DX'D , we saw they have carbs so they were discontinued---If you have found low carb ones, please let us know :-D
Hope Mocha will be coming down today for the start of the holiday--And you both should go out for a nice nite & enjoy yourselves--
You know how upset I was to leave her yesterday all day, but it felt so so good to just be with DH & family in a nice setting-
Very refreshing & feeling good. Moonie was fine, & all was good.
I think we need to be away even for a day, for a little break & rejuvenation from all this--They are no worse for the wear, and all our worrying is usually unfounded--You are so so devoted- I Understand completely...Have a good friday--HUGS~!

It is a hereditary disease & treated early can be easily managed...Know a few people who have it & they are fine..
Sending healing prayers to Peter, and know he will be fine--They have made many advances with this illness..Double HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

My DBIL had that too. I suppose his doctor has asked about his vitamins....my DBIL didn't realize that he should have been taking the Senior vitamins that do not contain iron. Hope that if Peter is taking supplements, that he will check to make sure that they do not contain iron, right? He will be good after the blood draws...making sure he keeps drinking more fluid around those days.
Of course, you could check for foods that have a high iron content, spinach comes to mind, and make sure you avoid them for now...
Wishing him well with this....please give him our best.... :YMHUG:

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

I think Mocha had too much cake last pm! Hopefully it will clear her system quickly and the fun can begin.
Peter will do fine - look at Mocha- she gives blood multiple times a day- not just once a week  The once a week blood sucking may not actually go on for a whole year. Usually they may start there but then decrease frequency once they get the levels where they want. I know people that only go 3 x a year now! Most of the ones that I know go somewhere between every 4-8 weeks.

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

Hey Mocha - we have almost the same number this morning! My bean muttered alot this morning, something about pink again? she too is tired of that color. Later! ~~ Mannie

Best wishes to Peter! Hope all goes well.

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

Mocha is just trying your patience! Silly cat!!

Good thoughts for Peter! I'm glad Joyce and some of the others are familiar with this disorder. It sounds like it's pretty easily managed.

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

Mocha, whats up with all this late night meowing? Shhhhh

Sending prayers Peter's way. I will keep him in my thoughts.

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

Hi Mocha you little sweetie. I sneak Maggie a treat once in a while, too. We wish Mocha and you a good Friday; please come down, too, Mocha.

I'm sending positive thoughts and prayers for Peter for this treatment. I was wondering what causes it? I will look it up on WebMD or one of the other medical sites.

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321

Sending out best wishes to (((Peter)))

Mocha - lets see some yelllllers!!! :)

Dear Mochalove,
My Mommabean won't let me have dental treats - can you send me some? I promise I won't let her see them, and if she finds them I promise I won't tell who gave them to me. Can you believe she won't even let me have a single piece of dry food. It's so little!!! I miss you tons and I wish you could come to The Falls with me. Soon????
Hugs and Kisses - Marco

Re: 7/2 mocha amps 321 +6 244

the dental treats were from her dental vet. Before we gave her any I posted a picture and wrote out all the ingredients on here, and several people OK'd them safe for her. So we have been cutting the sticks into halves and giving her one or two a week. The last time she went to the vet about a month ago she noticed tartar and plaque build up only 2 months after her dental so we are hoping these will help her out with that problem.

Thanks for all the well wishes for peter. He was diagnosed at the end of last year, and the doctor suggested we do a diet change and see if that helped his numbers. He was taking vitamins at the time which of course were 100% of his daily iron, plus his cereal for breakfast that was 100% iron so we cut that stuff out along with any other high iron foods but at his last check up the doctor told us his numbers didn't budge and that the blood draws were the next step. He will have his iron rechecked in three months and we are hoping that it has made an improvement.

His parents don't seem overly concerned to be checked for this but peter's doctor did order a gene test to see if he is a carrier of it and could pass it onto our children. We are hoping it was caught early enough and will be managed so it doesn't cause any future problems for him.
