Well it seems Tori must have surfed blue last night. She was 148 at +6 during the night. This morning she's 172. Seems this dose might work for her.

She ate a real good breakfast but was not impressed when she saw the kitty carrier. I can't say that I blame her. I wish I could make her understand why she is going to the vet every week now and why she is having all the meds and pokes again. It must be very confusing for her. SHe didn't really protest too much though and was quiet in the car. I made sure to tell them to make sure she eats today. If she doesn't for sure she is going to tank on them. I brought a can of fishy FF. She loves the Whitefish and Tuna and will normally eat that if she won't eat any thing else.

As for me I'm nervous of course. I really am starting to dislike Fridays and Chemo Day. Today is the heavy duty one and then next week we have a break. No vet visit and only the Prednisolone everyday. That will sure be =nice.

If you have a chance please say a quick prayer for Tori today that everything goes well and that she doesn't get sick from this new med.

Have a good day everybody.

Does somekitty need snowbunnies? This is, unfortunately, a very busy week for them.
I hope Tori does ok with the big chemo....poor thing. It'll be nice to have a break next week.

With all the vines and snowflakes and healing thoughts going out today... more for you and Tori. And hugs too.

Hi Barb & Tori, We hope that all went OK today and that the new "cocktail" does not make that brave, strong girl too uncomfortable. Stu has picked a new bouquet of feel-better, healing vines and is sending it along with his love. And snowflakes, too, just for good measure! Have a good, restful night tonight and a good day tomorrow. It's good that you will have a 2-week break from chemo. Thinking of you,

Ella & Stu

Hi everybody. We finally got back from the vets after Tori being there for almost 10 hours. Such a long day for her and she's absolutely exhausted. First of all her weight is good and her CBC was perfectly normal which is the good part. He thinks that the major 2 nodes may be marginally smaller but is still concerned that they aren't going down as quickly as he hoped. He had a real hard time getting an IV started on her today. He got one started and it immediately blew. He was scared for a second that some of the chemo Might have entered her tissues but it doesn't look like it did. This drug can cause necrosis very easily. He finally had to start the IV in her back leg and because the site was so iffy she had to have a tech sit with her the entire time the IV was running. Poor baby must have been terribly stressed. Her BG when I got her home was 306. It was 172 this morning. They said she did eat a bit while she was there.

I was thinking in people with long tern antibiotic therapy or chemo we often put in a PICC line or some other central line that can stay in for Weeks so that the person doesn't have to go through the trauma of having IVs started all the time. IS this possible to do with cats?

ANyway we have a week off now. No visit to the vet unless she reacts badly to the drug she just had. Hopefully she won't.

Such a sad day here in LL. My heart just aches for Cyn and Lydia. I hope our other babies who aren't feeling well are doing OK. I've got some catching up to do.

Have a good everybody and kiss all your precious babies for me.

So happy she is home, what a long day for Tori.
I'm so sorry I don't have any advice on the therapy.
Wondering if maybe Jess & Earl can help with that?

Please give Tori gentle hugs from all of us, she is a fighter, and we're hoping for the best for her through the treatment.

oooh. what did she have today, adriamycin/doxorubicin? or vincristine?

if it's the former (no experience with the latter), i've read that a spill *may* go undetected and untreated only to be noticed anywhere from 1 to 10 days after treatment. i was a wreck for two weeks after each round of chemo. keep an eye on her for pain, limping, swelling, or if she licks the venipuncture site; if she does, call her vet.

i hope there wasn't a spill though. that would be a true nightmare.

It was the Adriamycin that she had today. I'll be watching that leg like a hawk believe me. That would be all she needs wouldn't it? So far it .looks good. No redness, swelling, heat or discomfort. BG to night is a yucky 360. She's flaked out in her favourite spot. Poor baby she's had quite the day.

Sending giant green Healing Vines to Tori to feel better & may the Chemo do it's very best job!!
Hugs & Snowflakes to you both!

((Barb)) I've been thinking of you but haven't been able to be on the board much the past few days. Was hoping that Tori was doing okay with and from the chemo - it sounds as if she is but I'm sure she's as bewildered as you say from the many trips.

I'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers - hoping that this is the answer for her - and sending you lots and lots of hugs.

Sending lots of healing thoughts and vibes and prayers also.

my vet always ran a little saline through the IV as a precaution before starting the chemo meds.
maybe ask your vet if they do that or if they can ?? Someone always stayed with Winnie while she got her chemo meds. I ' m glad the tech was there w/ Tori today.

not done in cats. I asked. is way too risky --the surgery to put it in for one. and infection risk. and risk of it being yanked out.

ANyway we have a week off now. No visit to the vet unless she reacts badly to the drug she just had. Hopefully she won't.

keeping fingers crossed there was no infiltration of the adria into Tori's tissue.
and hoping it knocks the snot out of those enlarged nodes. ( but w/o being hard on Tori)
