Jake is the same, weak, yellow. His glucose is now running very high. Yesterday he was at 586 at one point. It's making me crazy. I'd rather he be too high than too low obviously but to go up almost 200 points in 1 hour. It is scary. Then to make matters worse, the stupid pharmacy gave me the wrong syringes yesterday (28 g 1inch when I use 3/10 cc 31g 1/2 inch). I didn't realize the mistake until it was too late to get the right ones. I always check when I'm there but yesterday I was preoccupied with checking the labels on pepcid because I thought that might help Jake. So this morning I had to use one of those needles for his injection and I'm not sure if I gave him a fur shot or not. I was trying not to poke him too hard because he cries if I use a 1 inch needle.
I will try to update his SS as soon as I can though I think the number 1 concern with him is getting food/water in him rather than his BG level.

You are all so wonderful to be so supportive of Jake and so thoughtful with your kind words. I've had a few people (not on this list) tell me that I should just euthanize him so he can be at peace. It's kind of heartbreaking to hear that because I would never intentionally make him suffer. I don't believe he is suffering and neither does my vet. I think Jake is giving a good fight and I'm trying to help him. I am very thankful to be part of a group of people that all love their cats so much.

Dear Lydia,

Hugs to you and Jake! Yes, I think that Jake getting food and water is far more important that his BGs right now. I also know that you are doing the right thing by helping/treating Jake rather than pts. There is ALWAYS hope and miracles happen all the time as one did with my Jake just this year - ironically, my Jake's BD is also May 1st! Coincidence? I am so glad your Jake is not in any pain as he hopefully is on the road to continued improvment - along with your love and care, the fact that he is eating and drinking are good signs. We think of you often and are praying for you!

I think you are doing a wonderful job with Jake. People mean well, but I believe in hope, and miracles. I have been told by several that FD is a pts situation, and why haven't I. It's just an easy solution for too many. I think you are doing the right thing for Jake. He seems happy, is eating and drinking, getting the care that he needs. I hope improvement continues, believe that it will. Jake is a fighter. I hope you guys have a good day!

Keep enjoying your time with Jake. BIG HUGS to you both.

I'm sure the pharmacy will take back the syringes they mistakenly gave you, in exchange for the ones you ordered.

Give Jakes extra lovins and scritches from us.
