? 7/11 Jessi PMPS 314 +1 334 +2 298 +3.5 276 +5 264, stress? another bounce?

Good news: Jessi is getting slowly better about the dressing change, less stress signs. Last night she was actually purring as I was changing the bandage. What?! :D
That's great. Must be such a big load off!

Let's see what she does for the rest of the cycle. Might have a later nadir because she's clearing a bounce.

Such great purrgress :p Purrs are the best! ♥

I’m replying to some parts of yesterday’s condo here :)

Can bounces cause loss of appetite? She ate only one of the 2 cans of LC she usually eats across 6 hours. I will offer more and see if she wants to eat before it gets to be too late.
High numbers lead to excessive hunger but extreme lows also make the cat hungry. Appetite is less ravenous as a cat is getting better regulated.

With Shen, I could not find a correlation between the excessive or lack of appetite and the BGs.
He has always been a foodie but when we started insulin his appetite died all of a sudden. I used to struggle getting him to finish his meals. Even at decent blue/green BGs he did not have his old appetite. For me, things got better by clearing up his UTI and spending more time in blues and greens.
So in my case, Shen’s lack of appetite wasn’t connected only to his BGs, I feel.

If I just write it into the Logbook without writing them personally and asking permission, it could really bother them. A lot of doctors are quite protective of their authority in my experience and see you as a threat when you in any way challenge that authority. Even just asking to change the dose, not waiting for them to say so, can be seen as kind of presumption, an indication that I don't trust them to lead the treatment properly. It's really up to them how they see it in the end. I'm only concerned because I have to depend on them for super important things, not as much because I care what they think or feel, although it does bother me to be treated in certain ways. The most important thing is Jessi's care.
I guess you are in a bit of a predicament seeing as to how you don’t have the option to just drop this vet in favour of another. Even if you did, I know that it’s a pain in the neck to start afresh with another vet, tell them your cat’s whole history only to end up with questionable advice yet again.
So right now, maybe it might be better and, a bit more comfortable, to suck it up, let them hear what they want to hear and stick with them. Although over time it’d be better if you could convince them to let you make some dosing adjustments on your own. Make it sound like you’re asking them for advice and/or their permission ;)

I feel very few experts are humble enough to not mind being questioned or corrected about their area of specialisation, but doctors seem especially touchy. I feel doctors for humans are even less accommodating wrt answering queries than vets are. It doesn’t help their case that people now have easy access to a lot of information on the internet and have more questions than ever before :D

this really really sucks! sorry, just saying!

there is a lot of stress in the house today and she got stressed again when we did the dressing change, could that be it?

I'm pretty sure the shot went fine, though I did change the location, but that shouldn't be a problem, I've done it there before. Unless I missed it without realizing...

It can't be another bounce, right?

It does suck. Even I was hoping to see some blues for Jessi today. Seems like a repeat of yesterday’s PM cycle.

She seems to be dropping although not as steeply or as quickly. Stress does contribute to high BGs, so that could be a reason.

Hang in there :bighug:

I think I also dosed a little conservatively. Ironically, I was worried she would fall to low too fast, so I erred on the side of less rather than more. It is not easy dosing with calipers on those teeny tiny lines with my tired tired eyes....so tired. Sometimes I let it be a tiny bit more, sometimes a tiny bit less. Sometimes I get it exact. Maybe I gave her a tiny bit less just when she needed that tiny bit more.
