7-10 TYLER AMBG 149 Has Upper Respiratory infection

Hi Suzanne here's a dumb question , do you mean they can get it from the distemper shot. Both vets where I go never said he had a herpes infection.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and ask.
It just baffles me how did he catch something when he's an indoor cat.
Like I said the week before this infection he was vomiting for a day and a half , got rid of that, then 4 or 5 days later this happened. Thanks for the info :bighug::bighug:
@Suzanne & Darcy
The distemper vaccine is supposed to protect them from the calici virus. So that is something you want them to have and I am sure that Tyler has been vaccinated. They need it twice when they are kittens and then a booster at one year and then they are good. It is likely a herpes infection which he could either have had before or picked it up at the vet. But the shot is a good thing. If only we had a herpes vaccine.

Diane can you get some Azithromycin for the URI? It’s really effective. It’s the drug of choice for URI if you can get medication in him. Works wonders in my house. Some people use Convenia for many things but for my cats it doesn’t work.

Pearl has chronic URI. Azithromycin is one drug you can pulse too long term to keep infections at bay. Pearl gets it year round every third day. No URIs or pneumonias in the last 8 months since we started.

I don’t know much about the viral component so can’t speak to that part just the bacterial URI.

Yes Tyler had his distemper vaccine right before his dental this year

Thanks Margaret, I'm going to call my vet tomorrow and get this straightened out.
Thank you :bighug:

Hi Diane, it can take a week. Where are your patience pants? :p As long as he is improving, I would not worry. Let me know later how things are. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Diane. I've been looking for an update on Tyler, too! I put on my patience pants though (had to find them in the bottom of the dirty clothes hamper!) It sounds like the vets are trying to help Tyler. It does take time for these things to go away.... hopefully you are seeing small improvements? Hugs. I know you must be stressed out about Ashley's PT today, too. That whole situation is so awful I didn't even know what to say. The person who insists that she cannot get pain meds unless she does this three times a week is horrible.
