The distemper vaccine is supposed to protect them from the calici virus. So that is something you want them to have and I am sure that Tyler has been vaccinated. They need it twice when they are kittens and then a booster at one year and then they are good. It is likely a herpes infection which he could either have had before or picked it up at the vet. But the shot is a good thing. If only we had a herpes vaccine.Hi Suzanne here's a dumb question , do you mean they can get it from the distemper shot. Both vets where I go never said he had a herpes infection.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and ask.
It just baffles me how did he catch something when he's an indoor cat.
Like I said the week before this infection he was vomiting for a day and a half , got rid of that, then 4 or 5 days later this happened. Thanks for the info
