Just an update on Tiger…
Second day after surgery continues to be a balancing act between the mouth soreness, his tummy and his FD. The pain meds seem to help but he got his last one tonight. He was a bit feisty with me on the couch last night after the pain med. grasping my hand, trying to do love bites etc. Tonight he’s more quiet. I think his one dish of food was a little hard on his mouth, so I switched back to the other he has been eating fine. The vet said he could have any of his normal wet food. He refuses the mushy mousse after day one, but has liked his pate and his HC tuna. I have been alternating between the two. Knock on wood, anti jinx, his appetite is good.
He had a lot of trouble drinking water, mostly ending up with his nose in it the first day and hasn’t attempted it since. I am mixing all his food with water and giving a syringe of water with every med to make sure he gets enough. Hopefully this is short lived. His output is the same as pre surgery so I think I’m getting enough in him.
As far as FD, I have kept him at a lower dose to try and judge where we are at. Last night he was in blue for several hours with the libre pointing down quite a bit. Today he was all pink, which appears to be a bounce. The last thing I want to do is to have to get a syringe of syrup into his sore mouth. It’s hard to get him to open his mouth without hurting him. I intend to slowly increase his insulin as we go on and will probably increase it tomorrow. With those blues last night I’m not sure he needs his pre surgery dose yet.

I hope he will be ok without the pain meds after tonight’s dose as I can only give for 3 days.
Slowly I’m seeing a bit of his old self and hopefully will see more and more…
This is the hardest thing to go through, stressing to the max knowing he’s hurting. To make matters worse, my ankle is to the point I can hardly walk. Hubby has been an Angel to both Tiger and me….

I don’t know if I mentioned it but as we were leaving to pick Tiger up after surgery, hubbys car refused to leave our driveway! It’s only 4 years old! Thank goodness we were able to use mine and hubby was able to deal with that once we got Tiger home and settled. It got towed in, fixed and got it back today. When it rains it pours!

I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and prayers and hugs. I’ve haven’t been able to respond to everyone till now but know it is so appreciated.

So glad to hear Tiger is in the mend, (((Deb))). Sending you continued prayers for his steady improvement.
I hope your ankle feels better, too. Sorry you are dealing with that and the car on top of everything.
I hope each day is better and better.
Many hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sorry to hear about all the troubles, but I am glad that Tiger is improving. Hopefully it will soon be good, and he will feel so much better without those bad teeth :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Deb, I am sorry you went through so much stress! I hope Tiger is healing quickly and eating comes back to normal. I know it is stressful to handle the insulin, if they are not eating properly. And all the best for your ankle! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you both so much! I was a bit concerned today because he was so sleepy today and had a little less appetite but this evening he actually played with his ball just a bit and has been demanding his dinner. All good signs.
Thanks for all the good thoughts!
