Oh that really makes me laugh. I am not patient. I am so sick and tired of this circus. Being a zombie after the last 2 nights doesn't help.You must be getting out of line and she's reminding you who's bossyou have more patience than I do!
Have you ever tried playing hardball with Minnie? Okay, this will make me sound really mean, but when my kids were little I could not tolerate them being picky and I didn’t want to encourage it. Okay…. I am not going to tell the whole thing because some people wouldn’t get it…. But the bottom line is that the kids wouldn’t eat their breakfast and so I took it back up from the table, covered their dishes with plastic wrap, and I said that was fine …. They didn’t have to eat it….. they could try again tomorrow (yes, they got lunch and dinner too). The next day they were presented with the exact same food for breakfast. They ate it. I never had one more picky day with them ever (except one time my son cried when I put a plate of sautéed Monkfish in front of him, because it looked so weird. After we comforted him, he tasted it and loved it. Soooo … around our house we have a saying about playing hardball… if the cats won’t eat their food! Of course, this usually only applies to cats who are not “special needs.” It’s sooo hard to play hardball with the ones that you really need to eat. With my other ones who are trying to “play me” I am totally fine with letting them skip a meal and getting their old dish from the previous meal right back at them for the next meal! I know the exact breaking point of each cat. Some are more stubborn than others. And sometimes a less picky buddy comes along and eats the leftovers to get them off the hook (that’s where Sam comes in at your house.) I can’t afford to waste cat food on the healthy cats.

I completely get this. My mum used to do the same for us - sit at the table until you eat it. And in the past I have done this with Sam but with Minnie I am petrified she won't eat while having dropping numbers. Like last night. Actually I'm always petrified she won't eat because with high numbers there's the ketone risk. That feeding tube situation scarred me.
Looks like a good first part of day for catch up sleep. I hope it's cooled down where you are too, making that sleep so much easier.

If I’m worried Chloe hasn’t eaten enough and I can’t get her attention with a fresh dish of LC food, I spoon a teeny tiny bit of MC food with gravy on top of the pate - like 1/2 tsp. Goes nuts for it. She will usually eat some of the LC around it because she’s sloppy.
I've been doing this for a while, a smear of A/D on top of whatever else I've given to entice her.
I'll set the alarm and hope I wake up! only 3 hours away...didn't get to bed early enough. Thank you!!
Hopefully once the depot adjusts it won't be so manic. Or so we hope. All depends on Her Majesty!

@Liz & Minnie about the food… you are right about the food and the pills and all the rest! Minnie has you between a rock and a hard place! I totally understand about the ketones as well. It’s possible that she really does not feel well at times … other time I guess she’s messing around! It can be so exhausting trying to get them to eat! What do you do if, say, she won’t eat the food with the spironolactone in it?
I'm trying to adjust my tactics. Have to give Sam plenty of food to discourage him from stealing hers. This morning she ate about half of the breakfast with meds so when she woke up an hour later, I gave it to her again and she ate a bit more. Last few days I have just stopped worrying about the spiro. Sometimes I put a little food down w/o meds to see if she's eating it, then add the meds when I give her a top up (that's what was frustrating yesterday!). Yesterday I put potassium in an extra meal. I am also thinking about trying the spiro pills again now my skills are a bit improved. It's a balancing act of what is the most stressful - I know you know.

LOL let's not get too carried away...2 cerenia and a few ondansetron, but those are easier because I can grip her jaw shut until it dissolves. Still, enough skills to make me consider the spiro now! She just doesn't like the taste of that, don't have to worry about the slobbering mouth like I would with cerenia escaping from the gelcap!
Seriously, I think you have made a lot of progress with pilling. But as always with cats, it feels like two steps forward and one step back! Are you up for the next race?
