IMO, Trixie continues to be improving overall....she's stronger, steadier, breathing is better. My concern at the moment is the lasix (or the lasix in combination with her BP med) is making her really tired. She's normal and perky (by Trixie standards) first thing in the morning, but about an hour after meds she starts sleeping like a rock. She sleeps like that for about 4 hours, and when she wakes up she's groggy and this is when she's a bit unsteady for awhile, until she fully wakes up. She doesn't seem to be as tired with the evening does of lasix, and she does not get a BP pill in the evening. I have a call in to our regular vet about this.
Since she is improving, I did schedule an echo for her with a cardiologist. Our regular vet uses a travelling tech and I don't want to go that route for a variety of reasons (not having an actual appointment and therefore having to sit in a cage for hours on end waiting for the tech; not meeting with a cardiologist face-to-face, etc). Unfortunately the first opening with the cardiologist isn't until next Wednesday, but they do have her on the cancellation list. Naturally I'm concerned about her being on the lasix with her kidneys, but at the same time I don't want her to fill up with fluid again. I am going to ask the regular vet about possibly scaling back the lasix when he returns my call about the tiredness issue.
I still fluctuate between being somewhat calm and being a nervous wreck. I attempted to sleep in my own bed last night, rather than sleeping on the couch with her. This schedule has thrown off the whole household. I lasted a couple hours in bed...kitten steps for me, too, I guess....
Prayers to all....
