IMO, Trixie continues to be improving overall....she's stronger, steadier, breathing is better. My concern at the moment is the lasix (or the lasix in combination with her BP med) is making her really tired. She's normal and perky (by Trixie standards) first thing in the morning, but about an hour after meds she starts sleeping like a rock. She sleeps like that for about 4 hours, and when she wakes up she's groggy and this is when she's a bit unsteady for awhile, until she fully wakes up. She doesn't seem to be as tired with the evening does of lasix, and she does not get a BP pill in the evening. I have a call in to our regular vet about this.

Since she is improving, I did schedule an echo for her with a cardiologist. Our regular vet uses a travelling tech and I don't want to go that route for a variety of reasons (not having an actual appointment and therefore having to sit in a cage for hours on end waiting for the tech; not meeting with a cardiologist face-to-face, etc). Unfortunately the first opening with the cardiologist isn't until next Wednesday, but they do have her on the cancellation list. Naturally I'm concerned about her being on the lasix with her kidneys, but at the same time I don't want her to fill up with fluid again. I am going to ask the regular vet about possibly scaling back the lasix when he returns my call about the tiredness issue.

I still fluctuate between being somewhat calm and being a nervous wreck. I attempted to sleep in my own bed last night, rather than sleeping on the couch with her. This schedule has thrown off the whole household. I lasted a couple hours in bed...kitten steps for me, too, I guess....

Prayers to all....

Amy

I'm happy to hear that Trixie is doing a bit better! Perhaps since you've cut back on her fluids she won't need the lasix or won't need as much of it?
Wednesday is only a few days away but yeah I know how long it can seem! Hopefully she gets called in earlier.
I hope you can catch a nap today!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

What a balancing act you are doing, Amy. I hope you get a good report from the echo. And glad you were in your own bed last night as I am sure you got a better night's sleep. :bighug:

Glad to hear Miss Trix is doing good Amy. I do know that Benazepril and Lasix are commonly used together but hopefully they will clarify the tiredness issue. It's hard to change your sleeping habits but do try and get some rest. Extra scritches for Miss Trix and always vines and prayers.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm so glad to hear that Trixie is improving. Hope you get great news from the cardiologist, and that, between them, the vets can get her meds sorted to where she isn't so knocked out by them. Hugs to you and scritches to Miss Trixie! :bighug: :cat: :bighug: :cat: :bighug: :cat: :bighug:
