We are holding paws and claws that we have such great numbers for the next 9 days..

I'm so impressed with all the greeness...even though we are only ear poking twice a day now (anti - jinx to that too), he is not happy at all with the ear pokes. It's the weather, it's so cold here that warming up his ears is a challenge, and colder ears mean less blood. Poor boy he is being such a trooper.

I have been feeding him every 3 hours during the weekend, and I can see the difference to his AM and PM numbers. Even getting up at 2am. I'm ordering the PetSafe timed feeder today. I'm hopng that will help. I tried to organise someone to feed at +9 during the day when i'm at work, but that didn't work out, so i just left a lot of food out this morning. I'm hoping he will be okay.

Wishing all of you wonderful surfing weather the whole week, and lovely cool colours.. :-D

In the morning when I do his ears it's about 32F outside. It does eventually heat up during the day to about 55F. We obviously have the heaters going inside were we test, but cold is cold and it's just taking longer to get everything warm. Upside is that the kitties are all in extra snuggle mode, so mom and dad are prime snuggle partners :-D

Have you tried freezing some food and leaving it out to thaw through the day (as a sort of forced timed feeder) until your PetSafe ones arrive? Just a thought... though they might not thaw too well with your chilly weather~

The timed feeder has made a world of difference for Jezebel. I freeze small portions of her favorite wet food and load the feeder before I go to work and before I go to bed. Of course I have two cats, so who knows who really eats.
But Jez has gotten used the feeder. Still doesn't run when she hears it rotate...but she eats out of it (that was a challenge at first).

Great Numbers SuperMax!!

I'm hoping that the timed feeder will be my saving grace too. Of course I can just imagine the mayhem when the thing starts to rotate. I'm getting two feeders, and I have 4 cats.I might get more later but I just want to see if I can get them to use them and not go on a hunger strike. My biggest concern is now that I'm actually getting up in the middle of the night to feed, is that everyone is lights out at that time, and I have to get everybody up :-D .So even with a feeder, will they wake up and actually go and eat....or will they snore straight through the time interval

I'll trade you our 90 degree days for your winter if you want ;) I hate summer, I just really do. I keep trying to trade with my Aussie friends too lol. If only I could afford it, I'd spend half my year in the northern hemisphere and half in the southern so I could avoid summer altogether ;)

Max is doing SO well! dancing_cat You must be thrilled =) I know I was loving it. To see those greens when I hadn't given a shot... it's pretty darned awesome!

Tugger and a lot of other trial and OTJ kitties started arguing about testing after the shots stopped. It's pretty common. If it's only the cold ear that's bugging him I would think the warm sock would make him a happy boy. Tugger would come running when he heard the microwave beep, he'd sit so quietly for me while I wrapped his ear in the warm sock and massaged. Quiet probably isn't the right word... his purr can be heard in the next room, but he'd sit very still for it ;-) Took a bit longer for the ear to get warm enough, but he enjoyed the quiet talking and gentle massage enough that he didn't mind the time it took.

Happy Day 5 Max! Keep up the good work! We're so happy to see your pretty green numbers!

I think those feeders make noise or something when they turn/open... the kitties will probably learn that sound pretty quickly and will get up to go eat on their own. Try getting them used to it over the weekend while you're home a lot, put small amounts of deliciousness in each compartment and set for frequent openings. (maybe call them if they aren't in the room when it opens) Shouldn't take them long for that Pavlov response to kick in ;)

Ah, so he is being a cat and moaning now that we are so close.... Don't get me wrong he loves the warm sock, but now he really protests at the lancet poke and and yowls like a banshee....he is very melodramatic. Once it's over he still happily lays down waiting for his treat like nothing has happened. I swear he must be taking lessons at Diva school or something

LOL silly kitty! It's funny how they all seem to figure out very quickly that the shots aren't happening anymore so why should all the ear poking still be happening? Yet, they still want the treats

I'm glad to see that blip the other night was really just nothing more than a hiccup. I know that Gabby will sometimes sleep through the feeder. She does manage to eat the +9 food regularly, though. There is a 2-sided feeder that once it's open (the tray doesn't rotate), it stays open. It's what I used on my recent trip so there was food out and I didn't have to worry if Gabby was sleeping.

HAPPY DAY 5 MAX!!!

I remember Raja used to get SO annoyed when i would try to test here. As if to say
"I am cured! i don't need no stinkin ear prick! I am FINE Mama!!" They just know that they feel perfect!!

Congratulations on day 5 of your trial for the 'diva' kitty. It is interesting how many kitties start to complain about ear pokes as they are healing and don't need insulin. As Pat said, it's almost like they "know" they are cured so they say 'stop poking me!'

Happy day 5. Looking good here.

Maui was and still is good about the ear pokes. Of course, I rarely poke her nowadays. Only if I think something might be up (or not). ;-)

Have you ever told Max that you are poking him for his own good? And better you poke than the vet? And well he ought to be grateful that you poke oh so nicely and give him treats afterwards.

I swear, Maui tolerated all the pokes because she got brushes afterwards. If I ever forgot to brush, she would refuse to move, and sit there in the assumed position, waiting for me to brush her. I'm sure if she could, she'd carry the brush out and give it to me as a reminder.

sigh....love the snuggle kitties.

speaking of pokey-ears, the other day I tested Luna, his ears have gotten hard again, that I gotta poke him at level flippin' 9 on the pokey gizmo!
Hey I could put earrings on him next time! but he didnt seem to mind so he got double hugs for being good.
