That’s good to know! He is supposed to have a follow-up appointment this week, but we’re not optimistic that the he will actually let the vet look inside his mouth (The vet voiced his concerns with it last week and I agree…George usually requires full sedation to be handled or examined at the vet. He’s like a different cat there.) Is there anything I should specifically lookout for in the event the vet can’t get a good look? I’ll ask the vet too but thought you might have some good ideas. Today was his first day off the gabapentin and he seemed to do well, but it’s so hard to tell considering he didn’t ever give me indication that he was in pain before.
 
Does giving him gabapentin before a vet visit calm him down? What was the dose of gaba he was on for the pain?

It doesn’t help at all. It’s kind of crazy. We’ve tried several times and it’s like it does nothing.

He was on 1 ml of gabapentin every 12 hours for the pain.
 
What the vet will be looking for is signs of infection post surgery. So if you can look in his mouth.....
