The vet came to take blood and urine on Bear, Teddy, and Emily this past week. I have the bloodwork and urinalysis results back, but the urine cultures are still pending. There isn't much good news to report. I am pretty sad about Bear's bloodwork in particular. His anemia is worsening. Clinically, he has had increased lethargy and weakness and pallor. The vet thinks that his anemia is multifactorial: blood loss through his kidneys (he has persistent blood in his urine), reduced erythropoietin production in his kidneys, and blood loss through his GI tract. We talked about some possible treatments down the road, (Epogen, transfusions, low protein diet), but the vet has concerns about how much more he can tolerate.

Emily's Creatinine and USG have worsened after a few months on moderate phosphorus diet and binders. Her phosphorus has improved. The vet is suggesting a lower protein/renal diet. Emily is a pre-diabetic on acarbose, and overweight, so at high risk of developing diabetes on a high carb diet. Rock vs hard place.

Teddy's fPLI is elevated, consistent with pancreatitis, which helps explain his daily vomiting.

I'm just a ray of sunshine, aren't I? I apologize for not being around here or FB too much. I am working too much and trying to keep up with cat care issues at home, plus, honestly just kind of bummed out these days.

Maybe bearman will level here for a bit, and it will become a new normal that is ok for him...and you. Its just so hard, I know...when so much of your time is just working to keep them comfortable as the continue on through their days. But it is so important for them. SOOOO important to be there for them...and THAT is what you are doing. Dont worry about us. You take care of YOU and continue to surround and be surrounded by the love of your babies over there. But, please...dont hesitate to lean on us, okay???

Will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

That is a beautiful picture of Bear Man sniffing the flowers. It made me smile. I hope you get some smiles today, too.

The first thing I thought when I read your post, was transfusion, but I know next to nothing about medical stuff. I just know that J.D. got a bunch of them when he was in the hospital with DKA. He has a very rare blood type and I was worried, but everything went okay.

I'm sorry for the rough times lately, I hope they get a little easier. It's amazing how much you care for your kitty, and what you'll sacrifice for his well being. I wish his results were better, but I know he's in good hands.

I just don't. I know nothing about important medical issues and feel so helpless.
But, I will keep you and your kitties in my prayers. Please take care of yourself and get your rest. We are always here for you ~ you know that! Through good times and bad...we are here and don't want you to be thinking that you have to be cheerful when your heart is very heavy.

How nice that the vet makes a housecall for your kitties. Sorry the news isn't better, but thanks for sharing the results and the beautiful Bear photo. Hugs and scritches to you all.

Cosmo, Danger, and I will continue to send white light, a blizzard of snowflakes, and healing vines to Bear man, Emily , and Teddy. Cosmo's doing the pitis thing right now too.

I don't know much about your relationship with your vettybean, but I would highly recommend a phone consult with Dr Lisa? Esp for Emily's diet. I thought low protein was only for end stage kidney disease?

Please take care of yourself. No one can take such good care of their babies if they aren't taking care of themselves too.
 
I am sorry that the vet news wasn't better - what a load of worries you carry. My hat goes off to you for handling it as well as you do. You are one amazing person. Hugs from Mannie and me to all of you.

The photo is so priceless. Exceptional. Everytime I see one of bear man i cannot help but see my guy. They are truly twins.

oh, linda, i am so sad for you. :( hoping vet and you can work out something to help bear get better. he's such a beautiful little guy -- i hope he has some very happy times ahead of him. (((HUGS)))
 
Awww Linda... I'm not around much any more either, but I am so sorry to hear about Bear Man and your other kids.
Unfortunately, I don't have any words of wisdom... but can and will certainly send you and your furkids lots of prayers and vines and snowflakes and some healing white light.

I have always loved that Bear Man! Beautiful picture of him!! Please give him a little scritch from me and Flamie.
