Increased Simon's dose to 3.25u this morning. My syringes do not have precise .25 or .5 markings so I think it may have been slightly under, it was a little hard to tell

Are you using U100 syringes?
Many are marked with 1/2 unit measurements.

When using U-100 insulin (like Lantus), it is essential to use a matching U-100 insulin syringe. These syringes are specifically calibrated to measure 100 units of insulin per 1 mL of fluid. Using any other type of syringe (such as U-40) can result in a dangerous dosing error.

You may want to take a look at this information about using a calipers. It's so helpful and this way you are sure the proper dose of insulin is being measured each time. The syringes are not consistently marked so dosing can be "off".
I have used them for several years (and keep a spare one in case of trouble). They are so very helpful!

I've been getting syringes from my vet, and they gave me these: Carepoint U-100 Pet Insulin Syringes, 29G x 1/2" 3/10cc. Unless I'm missing something, they don't have the half markings. I think I just need to shop around for some better ones

Correct! You would want ones with 1/2 unit markings. You have to look for that feature, it makes things so much easier.
There are numerous brands who make them with 1/2 unit markings.

I use the Relion brand from Walmart (store brand) since I have a store near me and they are very inexpensive (under $12 for a box). My only complaint is they only have a 6mm length needle (they discontinued the 8mm needle a few years ago), and they have a longer needle (too long for me).
You don't need veterinary specific ones.
Just make sure U100 specifically.

My vet didn’t carry half unit markings either.

Here’s the ones I use.

I prefer the sharps container pack but they also have just the syringes

Khloe started on a different insulin that had 1/2 inches syringes and we switched to the syringes above which are 8mm. It was alittle difficult to make sure the syringe actually went in the first few times but she seems to prefer the shorter ones.

Thanks for all these brand recommendations! I think Simon will be happier with the shorter needles, he often flinches during the injection and I worry I push it too deep sometimes
