Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

Once again, I want to thank everyone that posted on our condo yesterday with words of support and encouragement, vines, prayers and hugs. You are all wonderful people and you are helping me through this nightmare. I don't think I could make it without you all. :bighug::bighug::bighug: back.

Cinco seems to have done well today. I did load Otto up with MC, to be sure he was safe, and drowned it in Florti Flora to keep Harvey away. It was all gone when we got home. I expected him to be a little higher at PMPS because of all that MC, but he was right where he's been. I'll probably do the same tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see what tonight's cycle looks like.

Harvey did not eat any of the moist food I left out all day.:( He may have had some of the dry that is out upstairs, but he didn't get any from the downstairs bowl as DH closed the pantry door out of habit. So far he hasn't touched his dinner and is still giving me pathetic meows and pleading looks. I feel like a monster. The pantry door has been wide open since we got home and I haven't seen him eat any dry, but I know he likes it, so I'm trying to stand firm. If we haven't made any progress by tomorrow, though, I may cave. Does anyone know of any other GI friendly formulas that I can try with him? I'm going to ask the IM that question in an e-mail tomorrow. Z/d is the only one we have tried, and there must be others out there.

Minka ate all her breakfast before we left, but I was unable to leave any food for her during the day, other than the dry, as she doesn't like Forti Flora either and Harvey would have found anything I left her. She's only eaten part of her dinner so far. I gave her some Zyrtec, so hopefully she'll eat. We had to skip her fluids this morning, as there just wasn't time to do it. We probably will tomorrow, too. So we'll give her the 100 mls at night - maybe a little extra, too.

Sasha also ate her breakfast and ate most of her dinner. I'm sure she ate dry during the day. It was hot today and warm in the house when we got home, so I'm sure summer appies are in play (for all but Cinco, the little glutton).

It was a long day at the track, but fun. The weather could not have been much better - probably low 80s, but there was a cool breeze and our seats are in the shade from about 11:00 am on. We did a LOT of walking (my Fitbit goal was reached before we left!). It felt great to get away for the day and concentrate on something not related to the kitties and their health.

@Marje and Gracie, is the Fructosamine run as a separate test from the Urinalysis? His report said his urine was negative for glucose. If it is separate, I'll ask the IM about it when I e-mail her. Thanks for the advice.

Gotta run to the local Chinese place and get dinner. No cooking for this bean tonight! I'll try to visit some of you later, but if I don't make it to your condo, please know you're all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping Cinco lets me get to bed at a decent hour tonight.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Thoughts and prayers are still with Carla. Extra prayers and vine to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM and Elise's DM.

That is nice to get away and get a break. Good luck finding a good food for Harvey. Let's see a little surfing tonight, Cinco, and let the bean get her sleep.
Liz

The fructosamine is a separate blood test. Paws crossed Cinco behaves tonight so you can get some rest. :bighug:

Have you tried any of the unique single protein foods out there for Harvey? More companies seem to be making something with venison, duck, pork, lamb, and now kangaroo. The ingredients of Z/D just look yucky - don't blame Harvey for whining.

Thanks for visiting us, Liz, Wendy and Rhiannon.

Cinco isn't doing much so far. Maybe he's planning to surf blue tonight so I can go to bed. Of course, flat blue tonight means......? tomorrow?

I have not tried any unique protein foods. Harvey has had duck, pork, lamb and venison before. Maybe rabbit - I'm not certain. He has not had kangaroo. I will ask the IM if we can try that instead, and if she agrees, @rhiannon and shadow, I will reimburse you for them and pay for express shipping. I don't know of anywhere around here I can buy kangaroo.

The moist z/d IS yucky. It's slimy and nasty smelling and you have to add a lot of water to get it to a consistency that resembles other cat food. Harvey still hasn't eaten any. I didn't give him his meds this morning because he hadn't eaten and you don't want to give Pred on an empty stomach. I don't want to skip them again tonight. :nailbiting:

I wish I could send you some kangaroo meat. I can get it easily from the shops. I am surprised you can't buy frozen kangaroo meat. What about in a human store? That's where I get mine.
Good call getting Chinese so no cooking. We get Thai every weekend.
Hope you can get Harvey's food sorted out....it is another worry you don't need:bighug:

I'm glad Cinco is eating for you. I hope you can find something Harvey likes that works for him. I hope Minka and Sasha continue to eat. :bighug: I'm glad you were able to get out yesterday.
