Ugghh!!!! I thought Casper had a good night because she came upstairs for some lovin' this morning, which she hasn't been doing as regularly since her diabetes got out of whack. But when we came downstairs for morning test-shoot-fee, we found projectile vomit all over the chair, footstool and carpet. We're assuming it was Casper since the footstool is usually her spot. And then when I tested, BG was 502. I can't not go into the office today. But then again, I feel like I can't go in and that I need to stay here and do a curve. Is this a bounce? Did she find something to get into during the night? nailbite_smile Maybe I should get a kitty-cam, so I can monitor what she is up to.

AMPS 502 - fed 1 can FF
+1.5 463
+3.5 343
+6 351
+8 312
PMPS 392 - fed 1 can FF
+3 308 - fed 1/2 can FF (both cats begging for more food)

Ouch!
If it was Caspers - it may of affected his numbers...quick question, is your +3 at nite near bedtime for you?

If not I would grab a second check when you can after +3, the weekend is coming up, if you stay up a bit, I dunno, that may help fill in the blanks later in the pm cycle.
A bounce is possible too if he went a little lower overnite. You leave food out while you sleep?

Hope he feels better and gives ya prettier numbers, no more black Casper!

Yes - Our +3 after PMPS is 10:00pm. Staying up much later than that is tough. But good call about the weekend being almost here. I don't typically stay up late, but given these recent bought of numbers, I'll figure something out. Usually at night, there is still some food leftover from dinner. Should I maybe leave out another 1/2 can to get her through the night?

You have more than one cat right?

I would recommend leaving food out overnite, a timed feeder is a good idea, for me, I got to bed usually just before midnite, I make sure my civvie - who is a piggy - gets her share and is good for the nite, and then Luna gets his.
I use to get up at 3am for a snack, never did get that timed feeder @-)
but mine are use to it now and graze thru the nite if they want to whatever is left.

you can also put some wet food in an ice cube tray, seal it with wrap, and freeze it, makes nice little cubes of snacks that will melt and soften up though the nite.

EDIT to add: oh yeah - just make sure Casper doesn't eat at least 2 hours before shot time (both cycles), by then its prob all gone anyway.

Yes, we have two cats. I feed them both at the same time and Coal usually walks away before Casper. Casper is usually the one that goes back for seconds and thirds. But I have seen Coal do it too. So I think he is getting what he needs. Plus he is slimmer than Casper and super happy that we finally switched his food. He used to be a stinky cat. But ever since switching them both over to FF, he no longer stinks up the house. :-D

Well, Casper's PMPS is still higher than I would like. But thankfully, just under 400. So I will take that considering how we started the day. I'll try to stay up until 11 tonight to try and get a little closer to her PM nadir.

lol, aw poor civvie Coal! lol!
My civvie use to have crummy fur till both got switched to all wet food. It's remarkable isn't?

If Casper had a bout of pukus this AM, how was the litter box? Any other indication of an upset tummy?

Nope - litter boxes looked normal. And as I mentioned, other than the obvious evidence, she was in great spirits this morning and pretty much all day. I did notice, though, that she didn't beg for a mid-day snack.

Okay - not going to make until any later tonight. So went ahead with our normal +3. Also used this as an opportunity to train my husband on how to test. Up to this point, I've been the only one doing the checking (not to mention that I am the only one that Casper will allow). But I've got a business trip in a couple of weeks and my husband will need to be able to run the show.

Casper has been very playful tonight - chasing after her favorite toy (a bottlecap) and bringing it back a few times to play fetch. It was good to see her running around and being so spry. I'll be curious to see where she lands in the morning.

.

here's a tip - get your DH (dear husband) to give Casper treats here and there, good association
DH = treats, Casper thinking

by the time your trip comes along, Casper will be snuggling up to DH!

If you're not currently giving treats, any freeze dried ones are good and low carb.
(Halo, PureSnacks are a couple brands)

Have a good nite!
