Good morning!
Ripley is doing great today.
She has visited the LB, joined the Clean Plate Club, and is now BTB on her rocking chair.

It's much cooler today (only supposed to be 80 ~ a 15-degree drop from yesterday), and possible rain tomorrow. Very unusual for Sacramento. BUT cooler temps mean basking-time for the Rippo. I bet she'll be thrilled, as I've been banning her from the backyard due to the heat. And she's been expressing her unhappiness with squawky lectures. :lol: :roll:

Today is catch-up day. Catch up with house chores, errands, and condo visits :-D . (I lost a day yesterday due to sleeping ~ waaaay overslept, then spent the rest of the day trying to wake up :roll: How very cat-like of me :lol: .)

Oh, I almost forgot about my question:
:?: Merrick has changed their formula for Cowboy Cookout (and other flavors, now called Merrick Purrfect Bistro instead of Gourmet Entree). I have not yet purchased a can, but the ingredients have changed slightly, as well as the order of some of the listed ingredients. If I want to find out if the carbs and phosphorous levels have changed (and I do!), should I contact the company? Do I simply ask about those levels? I really hope the consistency hasn't changed ~ the new can says 'sliced.' I'd describe the old formula as 'mushy with several odd chunks.'

Morning Josie, this makes me laugh every time I hear about Rippo expressing herself with squawks, especially with her rocker or lack of yard time. :lol: :lol:
Wow, that has been hot up there in your region if the 80's are coolish temps. I can barely take an 80's temp down here as it feels so hot, but ours will be coming.
I have not yet seen the new Merrick Cowboy Cookout. Last time I bought a week ago it was still the older version.
I hope Dr. Lisa adds it to her list.

Ripley looks great.
I checked the Merrick website: http://www.merrickpetcare.com/consu...5&categories=Cat-Before-Grain#Purrfect-Bistro and they do indeed still make the old formulas (now called "classic). The food descriptions of the new Purrfect Bistro and the old "Classic" and "Before Grain" varieties are on the website, but, of course, they do not give % of carbs, etc. Perhaps Dr. Lisa will contact them and put the info. in her list. In any event, you can easily compare the ingredients in the various formulas. As far as I can tell, all of the old formulas are still in production.

You need to contact the company and ask for the "as fed" values for the food. The guaranteed analysis info isn't reliable.

It may help if someone drops Dr. Lisa a note and mentions that the products have been reformulated and there are some new varieties (e.g., an all chicken pate that's part of the Purrfect Bistro line).

Ripley is looking good, :-D I had one of those days yesterday, went BTB for too long and then spent the day trying to wake up :lol: hope you are able to get your chores done, and still have time to do something fun :smile:

I went order the now-classic cowboy cookout from petco (where I usu. get my fuds from) and they no longer have it on their website, only the new Purrfect Bistro. But I see that there are other sites that still have the classic CC...
I don't like change. Maybe I am part cat...

I'll try to stock up on the classic CC, in case Merrick decides to phase out the old cans...
I'll also contact Merrick and see what they have to say about the new as fed values.

Josie, if you're near a Petco, they may still have the old version. I picked some up locally when I was running errands, the old version.

Thank you, Ann, Petco is actually on my list to places to visit today. I'm glad they still have the orig. CC. I was thinking of gradually switching R. to just Wellness Turkey (she currently gets a 50/50 combo of WT and CC), but then remembered that she'll only eat WT if it's mixed with CC. :roll:

I also just sent an email to Dr. Pierson...

Morning Josie, Beautiful start for Ripley today. Hope you get your chores done - I had a BTB day yesterday too. Good luck finding out the new values on the food. Cleo's appy has dropped along with her numbers, and I find myself trying new foods now. Too much waste going on here - but just as long as she eats!!

I just went to my nearby Petco and found that Cowboy Cookout was on clearance ~ so I cleared them out! I think I got almost a case-worth for cheap. :-D
I sent an email to Merrick, requesting the values that Dr. Lisa said is needed to figure out all the new levels with the Purrfect Bistro line. So we'll see... I hope Merrick responds to my request.

I came home from errands to find Ripples sleeping on my bed. Sweet girl. It's too overcast for basking today. Bummer. Maybe later in the week...

And seriously ton the Merrick????? I haven't had to buy any since Mannie passed (he loved it, Elsa didn't), but have found that Lola and Bug like it and was going to get some. Well darn it anyways. I hope Merrick will respond to your query. paws crossed.

Hmmm on the higher-than usual numbers. Not bad numbers at all. But not within normal range of 50-120. Maybe just a 'glitch' in her system. Hoping to see lower/normal numbers soon so I can re-start the 7-day-count toward another shaved drop... Patience pants, where are you?

Thinking of Mali and Baxter (FB kitty) tonight. Sending them and their beans lots of vines.

Yep, this made me giggle, too! But I hear ya...things are so precarious with our babies, it's tough when fuds companies go and mess with a good thing.

Maybe Ripples is making her own statement about the changes Merrick's is making. Every once in awhile, they just love to toss us an odd number - you know, because heaven forbid we should get too comfy!
