I'm going to skip this morning's "fuds +3" follow up pokey test since Trix is already in the normal range, so no Mr Greenie so far today.

After last night's gelcap fiasco, she was feeling VERY feisty about it this morning. Ugh! Somehow I did manage to get it in on the fourth try, but I don't know how I did it...she was not cooperative at all - clenching her mouth shut, not leaning back, batting my hand away when I actually did get her mouth open. I can't say I blame her...last night was a disaster and I'm sure she's gunshy, but these pills are not optional and since she already won't touch Pill Pockets anymore I cannot lose gelcaps, too! Hopefully she'll quickly forget how rough last night's pilling was.

Aside from that, we're just plugging away at our "new normal". Her appy does seem pretty solid these days, even though I have to present the plate and supplement her calories with a few syringe feedings. Her body seems solid, too, so we're OK with doing whatever we have to do.

Petey's appy is still out of whack so I'm edgy over that. He did eat OK yesterday....not great, but OK. And there was a hairball waiting for me when I got home from work. But I think/hope there must be more hairball to go. I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of him "barfing", but it was just a little white foam. Can I tell you how much I hate white foamy spit up???? Anyway...no further hairball, but that may be because I "interrupted" him last night. The foam is usually also a precursor to a hairball. This isn't unusual for him, but at the same time, until it is resolved, I will be nervous....

One week till staycation!!!!

Sending out tons of prayers for Sasha and Tricia....heal up quickly, little one!!!!!

Have a great day, LL!

I'm glad you got the gelcap down this morning. Hopefully she'll forget about last night quickly. I hope it's just a hairball and Petey gets rid of it soon.

Re: 6/21 Trixie AMBG 118

Sorry about the pill fiasco yesterday. Been there, done that! Sasha is the same way about pilling. She has the strongest darned jaw ever! I'm alway so afraid of hurting her, and since her surgeries, I'm even more fearful. Somehow we get it done, though. Have you ever tried wrapping the gelcap in cheese? It works with Harvey, and if you only use just enough to cover the gelcap, he eats it all at one time, instead of in bites that may or may not cause the gelcap to fall out, like with pill pockets.

Yay for a solid appy for Trixie. She needs to talk to Petey about the joys of eating. Have you tried hairball medicine, or some of the hairball-preventing kibble? That last really seems to help Minka, who has very long hair. I'd say it's cut her hairballs in half.

Sending good appy vines for both Petey and Trixie.

Thanks for the prayers. I'll take all the help I can get right now!

Hi Amy, sorry about the pill ordeal. Lovey has forgotten some episodes from the past. That is a good sign that she is feisty though.

I am sure that it is stressful for you. Sending prayers for Trixie and for an easier time with the pills.

Re: 6/21 Trixie AMBG 118

Trix has never had cheese (DH and I are vegan), so I'm not sure what she would do with it if I tried that. I tried to give cheese that I "borrowed" from my Mom once to one of my civvies when he needed pills and wouldn't take pill pockets...he was like "What is THAT???" Very suspicious and wouldn't touch it   !!

I'm good with pushing the buttered gelcap down her throat since I know there is no risk of her tasting any of them, and for the most part we don't have huge issues. For whatever odd reason, last night was just a huge disaster, though. I hope she forgets about it quickly....

Petey does eat hairball food and I think it does help him. He's also a "picker", though...he has some anxiety sometimes and picks his fur. It's not so bad that he balds himself, but he tends to do it when I'm prepping meals. And, of course, unless we're quick enough to grab it from him, he swallows it. And he's a Maine Coon, so it's long-n-fluffy to boot. Crazy cat. Years ago, we tried PetroMalt...he wanted nothing to do with it. Our former vet (not our current awesome vet) told us to just smear it on his paws...IMO, that suggestion is Step 1 in how to turn yourself into your cat's enemy  ! We never tried it because we thought it was a ridiculous suggestion.

Petey ate OK again this morning, but he's definitely a bit off. I hope to see HairBall Part II when I get home....or, better yet, just a solid appy.

Back to work for the bean!

We has our Mr Greenie for the day  . Gelcap went down fairly easily, too, although she s still pretty feisty about it. Appy is bordering on gluttonous as long as MamaBean holds the plate. Kitten stepd!

I'm sorry I haven't posted much...I'm pretty beat, but even though I haven't posted much, I've been sneaking checks on everyone and have all of my LL family in my thoughts and prayers...
