I would have thought Max’s numbers would have come down by now. I don’t understand fully what is going on with him. I’ve even wondered if my insulin wasn’t good anymore. I bought two boxes of Levemir pens 6 months ago from Marks and we are using those now. I have one unopened box and two pens left in the box I’m on. I ordered that much because Max was going through it faster up until that point. I’ve been told that pens that have not been pierced are good until the expiration date if kept in the fridge so I haven’t thought of that as a potential problem until now. His insulin requirements are creeping back up and after this last increase I haven’t captured any really good numbers. I don’t know if he is bouncing or not. Is this something to be concerned about now or not?
@Wendy&Neko what do you think? So frustrating. My kids and grandkids have been staying in our house yesterday and last night because a storm knocked out their power. Their youngest girl has to be on a ventilator. It’s been sort of chaotic here but I’ve kept Max separated from all of the noise. I don’t know if he sensed something being off and that stressed him or what.

Hi Lori. I'm sorry you are so frustrated with Max's numbers and that he hasn't seemed to get better numbers from the increase. The stress and change to his environment could definitely affect BG. Hopefully, things will be better soon. I really just stopped by to say hello since I haven't in a while.

Hi Suzanne! Hope you are well. I knew the change in environment could affect him but I did have him in a nice quiet room. My house is full of rooms so plenty of space for him but I was not around him much yesterday or last night because I was trying to help my kids get situated. Although I did check on him as usual. He’s usually my little shadow and follows me around the house so maybe he still sensed things being different. I really hope it was that and he starts coming down because they’ve been gone now since around 11 am EST so about 6 hrs ago they left. I hope his insulin is still good because that would be horrible if it wasn’t. I know my mind is running away with thoughts lol. I’m still stressed out and haven’t slept lol. Thanks for checking in. Missed you!

This is cycle 5 of this dose. Since he's seeing some mid blues, you can hold it 8 cycles. Then reassess what you need to do next.

When Neko was on less than 1 unit, I was using cartridges (pen refills) to the last drop, which could be as long as 90 days. Lots of cartridges sat in the fridge more than six months as a single one was lasting almost 3 months. Unless you've moved the pens close to a frozen object, they are probably fine. Plus they are in a box which also protects them. Summary, it's likely not the insulin, but more likely the cat.

Thanks Wendy. That makes me feel a little better. Just wish Max would go back to the good numbers again. He seems fine otherwise. I will give it a few more cycles and see what happens. Thanks again.
