Pretty much same story, different day here. Trix's appy is OK and her first round of breffis was actually pretty decent. She has reached the point where she is taking that first round without me holding the plate, although she generally doesn't CPC it unless I get involved. So I guess that's another kitten step.

Naturally, I want her to eat more on her own, and today is one of those days where I'm a bit bothered by her appy issues - not so much stressed because I know I can get the calories into her with the syringe, but just "bothered" - a bit down about it, I guess. But, we'll continue to keep plugging away. She's a bit feisty with the syringe feedings sometimes, but she ultimately gets through them, so at least I have comfort in knowing she's getting enough calories. At the moment, I'm still holding steady with 2 syringes in the mornings, and 1-2 syringes in the evenings, depending on her appy and how much she's willing to eat on her own.

(Actually, she just ate a pretty good follow-up round for me.)

This is one of my frustrations, though...I wish I had more time to focus on trying to transition her to "normal" eating habits again. Then again, though, I guess that is really up to her more than anything...it may not make a difference if I even had all the time in the world. But, I hate having to rush her food situation in the mornings since I have to go to work most days.

Fortunately, I'm off tomorrow, and better than that - summer staycation is less than 2 weeks away now. I am definitely needing a break. I don't get nearly enough sleep these days since I try to squeeze as many feedings as possible into the evenings, and I have been battling a wicked round of mouth ulcers for a couple weeks now. Ulcers are nothing new to me (and they seem genetic, since my Dad and brothers also suffer), but I am really, really ready for this round to come to an end. When they drag on like this, it starts taking a big toll....

With that...time to squeeze in that morning workout. I really like to push my like, timewise, these days  ...

Have a great day, LL!

    Hooray for party Time!

I know how frustrating the food issues are, though every kitten step is a BIG step! It's even harder when you are so tired and dragging all the time. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Trix earned herself a break from the follow-up pokey this evening with that PMBG.

I'm relieved to not be working tomorrow, even though I do have some errands to run. And, I'll start sorting through pictures for her OTJ party, too! Trying to not be a nervous/superstitious MamaBean......

I hope the mouth ulcers heal quickly. That must hurt!

I wonder if the off appy is due to the kidney disease. Are you giving any appetite stimulants now at all? Sometimes just a little every couple of days helps to get them eating on their own again. I'm glad she will let you syringe feed. I bet summer vacation can't come soon enough. I think you said you teach unless I'm mixing you up with someone else. What do you teach?

Have a nice evening. Try to relax or do something fun.

Trix can't have appy stimulants - they react VERY badly with her BP meds....she she damn near passed out the last time I tried giving her 1/4 of a cypro tablet. We're left to our own devices. It's hard to say why her appy is off. Part of it is definitely psychological. Could be the CKD, but even when she was initially diagnosed with Stage 4 CKD her appy was fabulous...we never would have guessed her kidney values were so bad because she would eat anything and everything. Her CKD was restaged to Stage 3 about a month later because once we got her BP under control, her kidney values improved a bit. Her appy was derailed when she developed the p-titis, which was now 8 weeks ago. So I really can't say for sure, other than the p-titiis was definitely the catalyst for the crappy appy.

I co-own a bead store, so I teach jewelry making classes. It's a mixed bag....sounds like fun...but retail is retail.....and it's retail in a crappy economy.

Yep, mouth ulcers are brutal....

Cinco is shining up his dancing shoes for the big party! He's been asking about it for a while, so I'm glad I can finally tell him it's in the works!

Sending lots of healing vines for the mouth ulcers. OUCH!!! You have my utmost sympathy.

Appy vines coming, too. Manga,Trixie. Manga!!!!
