558 and then a 382 immediately after...is this normal?

Hi,
Imogen was great today, alert and playful, hungry and then at dinner time when I took her numbers I was shocked to see her at 558! She was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and her numbers have always been in the mid 200 to mid 300 range. I immediately re did and it came back at 382 which still felt high but much more apt. I am using the Contour. Is this something that normally happens? seeing the 558 almost gave me a hear attack!

Yes that can happen, I would think the second test is the accurate one. I have gotten higher numbers or lower for that matter when the blood was either insufficient or sipped too fast by the strip, its not uncommon.
I got a lot with my contour meter so I switched to the reli on micro and find it happens less often, the contour strips are just too expensive to second guess and retest all the time.
