Rain is due for her PM shot in about 30 minutes, however we're currently having eating issues. I opened a new bag of her hydrolyzed protein food last night, and it apparently doesn't smell right to her so with the exception of a little canned tuna around 4 this afternoon and some syringe fed A/D around 5:30, she's not eaten anything since last night. She vomited bile this morning and I gave her a dose of Cerenia. We just got home and she still shows no signs of being interested in her normal food, or any of the other foods that I have available. I'm going to try some more tuna, and will likely syringe feed some more A/D tonight, as well as give a dose of Mirtazapine, but I'm hesitant to give her any insulin with her not eating, especially since I'm not sure I can stay awake to monitor her through her nadir. Anyone have any advice on whether or not to give her a shot tonight?

Hmmm. Usually we say give 1/2 the dose if they are not eating, but she is especially difficult to get to eat when you want her to. And if you can't monitor, I would skip. She is on such a tiny dose anyway. Nice numbers today!

Thanks for the quick answer, Sue. Yeah, normally I'd be able to monitor but I have to be at work tomorrow at 7 so I can't stay up as late as I normally would, and I know some of her numbers today (+8 through +9.5) were influenced by stress hyperglycemia since I took her to work with me because her numbers hadn't started trending up yet. I'd be ecstatic about the numbers today if only she'd been cooperating with the eating! ;)

As much as I hate doing it, I'm tempted to skip tomorrow morning's dose unless she starts eating ravenously overnight. I have to work a 12 hour shift tomorrow (starting 2 hours before her shot time) and there's no one home this weekend to watch her for me. I'd either have to bring her with me to work (which would guarantee her not eating due to stress) or come home on my lunch break to give it to her, but then be unable to monitor her for most of the cycle. I'm thinking skipping the dose and leaving her home so she'll be less stressed might be the best option.

Thanks, Sue. A steady calm voice is very appreciated when I get myself all tied up worrying about her :)
