Hi Everyone! Raja thought she would like her own condo today....we are celebrating her Annifursary today. It is 5 months since her OTJ party last Dec 5th! She was on insulin from August to Dec and now, she is actually off insulin longer than she was on it!! Yay Raja!
Raja is my little fussy one....always so aware of the time of the day and what is next on the agenda! The past two days she has been whipping her tail around and I cannot figure out what she means by this. It's not due to anger (which is what I thought it meant) cause she is even more affectionate than she has ever been! She has been so sweet and comes to sit next to me in the evening while we watch tv. She seems to be ecstatically happy lately. We always giggle when we see her lying on her back....flat out....airing her tummy! She does that a lot! It's even more funny since she is such a fusspot...she just looks so vulnerable and exposed when she does that!
We allow her to go out on the second floor terrace after rigging a little fence to keep her inside. I don't like them roaming around, possibly eating strange Florida greenery. The little chubby girl suddenly discovered that jumping a 2.5ft fence is no problema for her! She sits nicely on a chair until I go inside and close the door. She then jumps the fence and goes wandering. I found her downstairs by the laundry room door the other night, sniffing around quietly. I cannot trust her to be outside alone too much now!
Her weight had been at 13.5lbs for the longest time but she just weighed in at 13.Olbs! Before canned food, she was my dry food carbo freak! She was very good with the surprise ear prick today. I am not surprised at the high green though...she had just had a mini meal with her brother 2 hours earlier and it takes her a little more time after eating to bring her number down. So, this is a good thing to see for me.
When I updated her SS,I almost cried. She had such beautiful numbers from the beginning with only THREE pinks!!
Pastels of yellows, blues and greens mostly....So different from her brother's SS which is a study in very dark colors, like blacks and reds!! Perhaps she would have been a faster study if we had started on Levemir out of the gate instead of Vetsulin for 6 weeks. But, that is water under the old bridge.
Raja is a very precise, fussy, over achieving 13 year old. She has never gotten used to any of the things she does not like....ie, Droolers, and visitors that bring chaos into her home sending her into her closet...car rides, and particularly those that end up at the vet office, and having late meals!!! She waits patiently for me to test her brother, knowing that food is to follow. Raja and Shadow enjoy catnip which causes them to roll around wrestling and they do have cat races up and down the hallway. When he was drinking so much before dx, she would go over to the water dish and sit staring down at it so I would notice her and put more water there...for Shadow, not her! I have never seen her drink out of the dish in 13 years! But she is so aware it seems and she knew he needed it. Always watching and always aware! (He on the other hand, seems to be oblivious! LOL)
Her OTJ was such a wonderful thing for us (even though she didn't make it through her first trial....)even though she was only on a little bit of insulin during those 4 months. Not the challenging subject that her brother is and has been. Raja and I are so thankful to everyone on this board who helped us out and who continue to be such a source of support for me with my travels with Shadow....Raja sends hugs and thanks to you all :YMHUG: And no, she doesn't miss the constant testing or the injections at all!
