Hello.
We still don't really have Gryphen's vomiting under control, and she's eating sporadically at weird times. I should clarify; she is vomiting in the AM again, and I wouldn't think anything of it because she has vomited in the past if she doesn't eat for a long period of time. But, she's not eating the food that's left out for her, and continues to throw up. It's water or bile, and it's typically only once, but I can tell she doesn't feel good. I've gotten Cerenia, pepcid, and mirtazapine (havent given this yet since she doesn't keep pills down) for her, and the vet has to 'research' the zofran and the cyproheptadine. Hopefully she'll call me back today. I'm also trying to get any/all of the meds in liquid or transdermal; my arms are raw from trying to give her pills, and I don't think she's getting full doses. We did subq at the vet on Monday.
She will eat kibble if I leave it out in the day (YA - I got new bags). But of course eating dry is causing her water intake to increase. No large urine clumps, though. Her numbers go down a few hours after she eats, and I know that is good.
So, after that book I just wrote...does anyone have advice for me on the BG numbers? This is day 3 with no insulin. (We were not ready to go off insulin, but until we can get her eating/vomiting under control, it is what it is.) I looked back at her numbers, and they have been almost exactly the same since 4/1 , whether the dose was .25, .1, or none. I don't understand this at all. (I was running two meters for a while, so I don't have to compare human to pet meters; I have pet numbers for all of the dates.)
In my previous post, I mentioned the insulin may have been bad, since it was slightly cloudy. But, that being said, it could only have been bad for a few days, as Alphyne is also dosed from the same bottle, and she went super low on 4/29, so I know the insulin would have been good then.
I'm starting to wonder if Gryphen has diabetes at all, or if she has something else going on? Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas? Thank you.
