Hi Everyone,
We are having severe thunderstorms, and the internet provider is going off and on, but here goes anyway. Sorry it took me so long to get to the board today, but there was so much to do after returning from camp. It is hot and humid and poor Rusty is suffering in his luxurious fur coat. But he's doing fine. He had such a good time at camp: he sat on the picnic table on the porch for hours and watched birds and kept an eye out for squirrels; he slept on the bed a lot during the day because he was up and about at night, keeping an eye out for mice; he had good appetite and good breathing and he only coughed once the whole time we were there! (makes me think there is something in our house that makes his congestion worse).

The beans got lots done with regard to getting camp in shape for the summer. Our new hot-water heater was installed on Thurday (no problems) and is great (the old one was 20 years old--10 years beyond it's warranty and still doing OK-- but we wanted to replace it before it broke). The new well is great! We pulled out the old pipes that we used to get water out of the lake (a job, but those unsightly rubber pipes are now gone). We went shopping in the nearest supermarket (25 miles away) and wine store. Edward went swimming, but the water was way too cold for me. We and our friends had dinner out to celebrate the start-of-the-season. Yesterday, a gorgeous day, we went out in our canoes in the morning and then packed up and headed home in the mid afternoon. Rusty was a perfect traveler, once again.

So here we are in heavy rainfall (which really is needed). Today, before the storms, we got the lawn mowed. Later I got caught in a thunderstorm while out on my bike and got soaked. But during the ride I was able to observe a turtle laying her eggs in a hole she had dug near the little pond I like to ride around. That was so neat!

We are about to veg out for a while. bbl. I hope all is well in LL,

Ella & Rusty (in bounce mode from the trip)

Sounds like your terrific cat really likes going to camp! Birds, squirrels and mice - sounds like paradise for Rusty.

The beans sounds busy, busy too. Good to hear things are now ready for the rest of the season and that you had a good paddle. We need rain here too - who though I'd ever say that.

Congrats to Mama Turtle! What a cool thing to see, makes a soaking worth it!

OK Rusty, nice rains, time for lagoon duty!

Thanks, Ella, for sharing so much about your Northwoods experiences. So enjoy reading about your adventures, great and small.

Now, Rusty. Your home. How 'bout some home-time numbers!

How spoiled you were getting to watch mama turtle at work :joyful:

Rusty - time to follow Edward's fine example and get your swimming trunks (I think that's what you guys call bathers) back on, the lagoon awaits it's meister!

Such a shame you can't put your finger on what causes his congestion o_O

HI Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Woot on the turtle egg laying, how cool was that?

And Rusty a nice and even day for you. Sorry for the T-storms. Sound like camp agrees with you, Dun times, huh!

Have a great evening tonight Ella, hope the storms subside some.

THX too for thinking of Elsa.

Lagoon report:

Your trusty deputies have been taking turns, but mostly, the lagoon has remained supervised. Advise adding new warning signs for shark infested territory...a few kitties have been going out a little too far. Sign ups for the synchronized swim team and water soccer are going well. Suggestions for a new volleyball net for the kitties on shore have been received due to complaints about the current one having a few too many holes.

Signed, Deputy LagoonMistess China

Sounds like you had a wonderful time...and Rusty..man what a lucky cat!! Can't ask for much better than nighttime patrol duty to protect the family from any wayward mice raiding the supplies!

Hope he gets back to his LagoonMeister duties soon....We all miss him down there!
