We had to rush Trix to the vet last night. At about 6:30, I went upstairs to see if she wanted a little snack. She was laying on the bed in the spare bedroom. She was in “Sphinx” position. When I held the plate in front of her, she had an odd look on her face…big eyes, kind of wobbly. Then she rolled on to her side – totally flopped flat out. Obviously not normal. She stayed that way for the 5 minutes it took us to get the carrier and call the vet to say we were coming in. She seemed like she was “recovering” when Mark picked her up and put her in the carrier.

She was pretty well stabilized by the time we got to the vet. There is no way to know for sure what happened – could have been a mini-stroke, seizure, or cardiac event. Her heart did have a bit of a gallop which wasn’t there last week when she was at the ER for peeing outside the box. We have no way of knowing if the gallop is a “cause” or “effect”.

She had a similar, but actually more dramatic, episode last summer, right when my Dad headed in to hospice.

Needless to say, yet another sleepless night for me. I dozed on the floor in the upstairs hallway, since that was where she chose to hang out.

She is eating OK, able to get up and down the stairs, able to get on the couch, and able to get to the litterbox, but she is walking oddly Sometimes she’ll walk normally; other times, her gait is off. We’re in a holding pattern right now…but I’m not going to lie….I don’t have a good feeling about this.

Just another day in the hell that is my life….

That is scary. I'm glad she seems okay now. Has she ever had an echo? Even if she has had one I'd get another. Things can change. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
She's never had one. We are contemplating; however, with her kidneys being so bad, we really have no treatment options for heart issues. Oh, the vet did start her on low-dose aspirin last night, in case this was a cardiac event.

It sounds terribly scary. Thinking of you and Trixie Cat with prayers.

That is absolutely terrifying. I'm glad she seems to be doing better today and hope it was a weird random one-off event. Jack is sending in a barge of vines for both you and Trixie cat.
I'll send over a few :bighug::bighug::bighug: for a very stressful night that none of us ever want to have to go through. So glad she is back home with you and not stuck in kitty jail at the vet.

HUGS and hugs and thoughts and prayers and hugs and hugs....

This sucks...headbutts bootiful girl...

More hugs for Mama and Papa Beans...

I am so so sorry Amy!! I know that must have been so terrifying!! Hopefully, it was just an idiopathic seizure! Sending prayers and vines and hugs your way!

Prayers , vines and fingers crossed

Thanks, everyone. Without a CT scan there is no way to know for sure, but I'm inclined to think it was a small stroke. I found a video that showed a cat walking after a stroke and while Trix isn't nearly as severe as the cat in the video, she is walking in a similar fashion. That plus the way she just fell/flopped over onto her side seemed more stroke-like than anything else.

The last time she got up to use the box, she was walking much more normally, though, so that was good to see.

Sending vines to Trixie to be okay. And :bighug: to you.
J.D. had two echocardiograms (one before his dental when he was 18 and one a year later). The cardiologist at Red Bank in Tinton Falls is good. Have you ever been there?

(((Amy))), We are sending a truckload of vines to Trixie and hoping that she will be OK. You must have been so frightened. I hope that she continues to behave more "normally" and that it was a one-time "event".
Scritches to all the kitties and :bighug::bighug::bighug:s to you and Mark.

I can't even imagine how terrifying that must have been for you! Glad she is doing better now, prayers and healing vines that she recovers completely and never has another incident like that one!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
