Robbie woke me at 4:30am but I managed to get him back to sleep... for a big 45 minutes - at 5:15 he was DEMANDING food, attention, everything. I tested and he was 324, gave him a soup spoon and started to go back to bed and than thought - this is insane - now he'll just be 400+ at AMPS. So at 5:30am (instead of 6:30am) I gave him his shot. I think I've mentioned here I think he's a 5:30am cat... which doesn't work since his mother is NOT a 5:30 am Bean.
Now this is what we have today so far:
5:30am (AMPS) test 324, shot 5.0, food (full breakfast)
AMPS +3 294
AMPS +4 small snack (2 soup spoonfuls)
AMPS +7 (this should be his LOW) 281 HUH???
I'm seriously starting to think that instead of going to 5.5 and eventually I'm sure 6.0 I'm pondering if I should try TID. I do not think a cat that went OTJ after a month at 8.0 and another few weeks at 2.0 and reducing down daily till OTJ has insulin resistance. Not that I won't get him tested but right now it's not the top thought on my mind.
Here is my thought about TID - any experts out there I'd love some input. I could reasonably with my schedule do 8:30 am 5:30pm 12:30 pm. I realize this isn't an even schedule - it's off one hour in the evening but I feel like this could work - just would need to contemplate the dose. By the time I'd take this on I'll be at 11 u's per day and headed to 12 u's - so maybe I start at 2.5 per period? Or 3.0? It's clear that by +10 in both cycles he is DONE with the insulin (or it is DONE with him) so keeping the schedule so we never reach that point seemed to make sense. (9 hours/7 hours/8 hours) ???? Or am I crazy?
