Last condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15322&p=153102#p153102

I wasn't sure about opening a condo, because I don't really have any good news to post. I have been worried about him this week. He is very tired and very weak. He's unsteady on his feet. He hasn't been eating much on his own while I am at work, though he tries to make an effort when I encourage him. He feels a bit thin, and he has lost some weight. He is still balding and having frequent focal seizures. He doesn't really get out of bed except to go to his litter box (bless his little heart for trying), to drink water, nibble at food, or move to another bed. He seems to be in decline. I am wondering about his potassium, his anemia, and his renal values. The vet is coming for a house call next week to do blood work and urine cultures on Bear, Emily, and Teddy.

After he dropped to 36 last week, his dose was reduced to .25 U (down from .5). He is getting a lot of blue on that dose, and I skipped shots twice as he was too low at preshot for my comfort. I really don't want to stress him by going too low and needing a few cans of gravy to come back up. He has lost interest in his renal kibbles, and has held out a couple of times for some evil high phosphorus Evo, his old beloved kibble. I haven't taken him outside in the garden or in his stroller, as it has been so hot here. He doesn't like the heat. In fact, he has been lying in the cat bed next to the air conditioning vent!

I don't have any recent photos to share, so this week's photo is an oldtimer from better days. This used to be our signature photo on the old board.

I've always LOVED this photo of mr bear. oh, little guy, have a nice long weekend with mom and the rest of the clan. hope he rallies and feels better asap, linda. (((BIG HUG)))

Awwww! I can't belive you take him in a stroller! Does he like that? Have I ever seen a picture anywhere of this? I take Spooky out on a leash and he seems ok with that. He would of course love to run free but tolerates the leash if means a chance to go sniff around and eat some grass. When I get the leash out and he sees it he comes running like a dog and sits by the door until I get him harnessed up.

Your discription of Bear sounds a lot like what my mother tells about my ederly Grandmother. Sits in her chair all day and sleeps, only gets up to go potty (sometimes not!) she doesn't eat unless someone is there with her and encourages her. She pretty much moves from bed to chair and back to bed again. I think that's what we all have to look forward to when we get old. For "us" it seems mundane and low quality, but I don't think Bear or my Grandmother feel that way. They like it when we are there to visit (although they sleep when we talk etc. ) They enjoy it, and when we are not around they pass the time napping until we return. I completely understand your treatment approach with Bear, you have kept him going and as healthy as possible there is no rush for anything. Great picture of him in his younger days! Enjoy the weekend!

(((Linda))) You have your hands full.
I hope Bear was just having some of his bad days, and is now starting on a string of good ones.
Have always loved that picture of Bear. Love all pictures of Bear Man :-D I hope you have a lovely weekend.

(((((((Linda)))))))))

Please tell Bear Man I hope he feels better, I love that picture.

Update as soon as the vet leaves, k?

Love the picture  I hope Bear feels better. Squishy is sending him special get well angel dust ;-)

that's one of my favorite pictures of Bear. I hope you'll keep posting condos whether you feel like the news is good or bad. I worry when I don't see a condo for Bear.

So sorry to hear Bear Man's not feeling well, Linda. We're sending tons of feel better vines for Mr Handsome! He's a very special boy and is loved by us all.

I hope Bear Man feels better. I have an oldtimer too (19). He's rickety and slow and spends a lot of time sleeping on the couch. Sometimes he doesn't make it to the litter box. I'm so happy to have spent the last 16 years of my life with him and I sure hope to spend a couple more at least. I know you feel the same way about Bear Man. (((Bear Man)))

Hoping your Bear Man is feeling better. Sorry he doesn't like the summer time, but it's nice that he does have a special place where he can cool off. (I turned our AC on earlier than I needed it because the furbies all seemed like they could use some relief.)

Hope the vet visit goes ok with the test results....that's so great that you have one coming to the house...so thoughtful of you Linda!
what a good Mama you are to your babies....
Love the picture of Bear Man....and your report sounds as if he is comfortable at least.....that is good for him. bravo that he is making the effort to get to the LB....sweet Bear Man. Maybe there have been too many parties for him lately...he certainly enjoys them but it is strenuous for him. Please give him a big kiss from the 3 of us k?

Hi Linda-

Hang in there, you are doing the very best you can for Bear. I wanted to get one of those strollers too; I think it's a great way to get them outside and keep them safe. I am pulling for him...and that picture is gorgeous. I also watched some of his videos you have posted. He sure is handsome and so fluffy. I've never had a long haired cat!

Hi Linda,
I know this is so hard to watch with Bear Man. I really like what monique said about her grandma. It was helpful to me. Just a reminder, that during this time our presence is often the most important thing to them...and REALLY can mean the world! Its hard for us, who are healthy, to imagine that. We crave so many things, so much stimulation. Certainly some day, most of us will understand when we are in that spot ourselves.

Hang in there lady! You are so compassionate. I know this nothing but helpful for your little guy.

Please keep us updated. We care!

oh! And that picture...G O R G E O U S! Latte would like to hang out a little more with the 'cool man'! ;-)
