Yesterday evening Spooky wasn't enthusiastic about his dinner and after eating 1/2 of it he vomited a huge watery puddle. Continues to drink water (not a lot, but compared to the fact I never see him drinking previously) more than usual. Last night he was in his usual place during TV timme but was in the meatloaf position. I fed him a treat which ate but not enthusiastically. At bed time he was lying normally sleeping and i picked him up and took him to my bedroom. He was doing constant lip licking. Jumped down from my bed and vomited (liquid and the treats I gave him). This morning he and Socks got me out of bed and he ate (gave him his normal food again) he didn't polish the dish like usual but only left a small amount. So far no vomitting. Still doing a little lip licking and occasionally drink (checked BG 65) he is playing jumping around and carrying toys in his mouth. Pooping and peeing somewhat normal (eating less=pooping less). Could be due to the changing foods (thought I was being nice serving something special) of course he also eats anything else he can steal so perhaps something he stole off my plate or from the kitchen didn't agree with him. Could be a "bug" or flu he picked up. Jojo ?'s pancreatitis....Never had him tested, but I wonder wether his FD was possibly due to p-itis. 3 years old is pretty young for diabetes, I don't recall if he vomited or anything more often before his Dx. I think he did but I assumed the frequent pooping (loose)and peeing, were caused by the FD and drinking and extreme eating. When he overate he puked.

He seems a little better right now. I have to go shopping and the vet is right there so I will stop in (w/o cat) and ask first. If the vomitting continues today or if he doesn't eat well then I will take him in. He is not visablly dehydrated and he is peeing and keeping some food down so I don't think it's dangerous yet. Could be a really bad hairball or something.

Sending feel better vines to Spooky Monique.
P'tis is not nice.I don't think the Fpl test is very expensive, so wish vets had agreed to test Lucky earlier and you definitely want to throw everything at it if he does have it.

(((Spooky)))

Thanks Kate,

I have to figure out what the test is called (all prices are set in the Gebührenordnung für Tierärzte and are legally binding by the law). I wish you had been closer, my vet is pretty good (except his choice of insulin and selling "diabetic foods") Both he and his wife do speak perfect english (he studied in Florida, and they lived in Jamacia) She also speaks Portuguese and Spanish. The practice is part of a chain connected to the pet supply store "Fressnapf" and is called Smartvet. http://www.smartvet.de/en/home.html

Office here in Füssen http://www.smartvet.de/en/unsere-ti...ssen-im-allgaeu/praxisbilder-aus-fuessen.html

monique, when cleo was vomiting for a few days i waited to go to the vet because she was eating some (but still vomiting). she ended up with hepatic lipidosis, so definitely better safe than sorry. maybe the vet will find something upon palpating spooky. if you can afford it i might suggest x-ray/ultrasound just in case.

if it is CP, some cats don't show it on the fPLI but do show it on the ultrasound (some cats are the other way around). that's what cleo does (negative fPLI but clearly inflamed pancreas upon ultrasound).

injectable famotadine (pepcid) really helps cleo during her CP attacks, as do pain meds (bupe) and fluids. if he suspects CP at all, definitely ask for pain meds (preferably bupe). CP is very painful for kitties, tho many hide it.

Nice to see you Monique but sorry to see that you had to open a condo because Spooky is not feeling well.
Good luck with the vet visit. Putty had a test for pancreatitis and I think he may have had to fast for it.

Hi Monique, Good luck with the vet visit. I agree that you should definitely have Spooky checked out. Hope he's feeling better today. Sending healing vines!

Hi Monique,

Sorry to hear that Spooky isn't feeling well. I hope the vet figures out what's going on. Keep us informed.

Spooky - feel better soon. I'm sorry to hear this Monique. Hope it is just a hairball

Ahhhhhh! Internet has been out all morning and afternoon. Stoped by the vet, he said to see how it goes today, if he throws up again before evening or doesn't eat I should call and bring him in. Also, said I can call his cell phone anytime (they have 24-hour service). He ate his breakfast this morning and no vomitting, ate lunch good (switched back to his usual food) he then did his usual hanging in my face while I was eating my lunch  Stole a peice of turkey and has been for the most part typical Spooky. he still is doing a little lip-licking but not extreme. Both cats have done a bit of sleeping (we have "cat weather") it's pretty warm and sunny, looks like we will have BIG T-storms later this evening, which is an everyday occurence here in the summertime. Yesterday there was a water funnel (tornado over water) on the lake, I didn't see it but they were talking about it today.

Maybe it was just the change in food that upset him or eating to much grass. I doubt it was anything contagious because I would have expected Socks to have it too (He did vomit once yesterday outside, while on the leash directly after eating grass). So I guess I will keep an eye on it but he seems better right now, if it comes back I can call the vet. No more fancy cat food for him, so maybe I can have something better than old dry bread! :-D

Hope Spooky feels better real soon, Monique. Sounds like it could have been a change in food or just a little bug...
I hope so...

Sorry to hear that Sppoky isn't feeling well. I hope it turns around very quickly and it turns
out to be nothing serious.
Here is a cyber rub for Spooky's tummy, as well as for Socks.

The well wishes worked...plus the threat of not being able to attend Shadow's full moon party. Spooky seems back to normal. He was out on the leash yesterday, ate all meals (only vomited once about a teaspoon foamy liquid and few peices of grass) that's normal. all P's are in order. Haven't seen him at the water dish since yesterday morning and the lip licking has about stopped (I've seen it just a few times and not like was the other night). He was back to stealing food off dinner plates and licking empty bowls in the kitchen, plus parking himself in front of me on the coffee table while I ate my dinner last night
*He sits right in front of my plate and every few minutes he scoots himself and his nose a little closer....waiting for his chance to snatch something. If I push him back (on his chest) he just pushes forward against me. Several times he has actually come running and leaped onto the table and his brakes must have failed because he slid right into my plate  Sometimes I have to lock him in the bathroom at mealtimes because I can't stand the harrassment. He is also always in the kitchen when I'm cooking and if I open the fridge he is clawing at my legs and howling. Several times he has scaled up my backside while I'm cooking. It hurts! I have tried everything (spray bottle of water, screaming at him NO!!!, scruffing him and shaking) he is unstoppable.

Anyway I don't know what made him sick, could have been switching foods (or perhaps there was a bad can of food) maybe eating to much grass or something else he stole (Nothing I had made me sick!) a little bug (although I would have expected Socks to have gotten sick as well). Could have been a mild CP attack, I don't know if he is prone then but his symptoms right before his Dx of FD were suspicious and the fact that he developed FD at 3 years of age is unusual. Perhaps his being young and otherwise healthy (He may have a congential heart defect though) means the attack is not so severe and resolves quickly, perhaps it is something that will become more problematic when he is older :? Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if and when then perhaps we can get some blood tests and maybe an unltrasound when it's acute to confirm or rule out CP.

Whew...am so happy to read this this morning....glad he is back to normal... although Spooky's normal sound quite challenging when it comes to food!!! :o What a character he is!! Don't know how you do it Monique! Glad he is free of symptoms and hopefully, he will continue feeling fine!!! Can't wait to see your boys at the party!! :thumbup
