Dear LL,
Latte and I had a talk this a.m.
She is not eating, period.
She has progressively been eating less over the weeks.
She does not look very happy the last few days, especially.
Today, I am starting a short stint of syringe feeding. Short, I mean, as in about a week. In the meantime, I will likely increase her steroid today, make sure I get her bupe in 3x/day (really hard with work) - except in a few days when I will try the appy stim again. I will love her, talk sweetly to her, and kiss her lots.
For those who have been around for a while, you know I syringe fed latte before the steroid for almost a year. I vowed not to do that again - ever. I have my reasons. Im willing to do it for a short time, to see if the increase in pred will work...to see if this is maybe a cp flare that will resolve, etc. Beyond a short time (a week or so), if she is unable to show interest and eat on her own than I think it will be clear that (as amy puts it), she is done with this ride.
Like I said, we talked about it this a.m. And we will talk about it more. We have been through these talks multiple times in the last 3yrs. She understands.
maybe its just because its too early in the a.m. and I have yet to digest it yet. But, Im ok for the time being. She is an amazing cat, but I can only expect so much.
She hit high 500's last night at +2. Dropped into high 300's by +6...no interest in food other than the 3/4 jar baby food I slowly fed her through the night. Surfed 300's last night into the a.m. where she sits. Dropped dose to 1.75 - not eating other than the little bits I can syringe feed (possibly a total of 1/4 3oz can this a.m). Will likely have to drop dose tonight, yet again, if she is still not eating....I will be working into the wee hrs of the a.m.
