We just wanted to stop by and say hi to all of our friends here and give you a little update on how Max is doing.

Our frequency for testing has diminshed (slightly) and now we are at mostly every other day.
He likes to hang out in the 60's and 70's with an 88 thrown in to just make me a touch nervous. :-D
I think he misses some of the attention that he used to get with all the testing and feeding.

He has settled into a nice routine, awake and spending more times with us in the mornings and evenings.
He even freaked me out last week when he "jumped" onto my bed to sleep with me as opposed to me carrying him and putting him on the bed.
Now that was a shocker.
I have even found him sleeping in the extra cat bed that I put in my room.

He comes around for food a lot more now and has put on 1 pound so he now weighs 19.5 pounds. I am not happy about that and trying to keep him at 2 cans of ff for 24 hours. My next plan is to chase him around the house for excercise cuz he does not love toys.

I still have not gotten him to the vet yet. I want all new blood work done to make sure all organs are working well. I always have a fear of fatty liver returning so maybe I have been a bad mama bean and give him food when he comes for it. I am always scared of him stopping to eat.
Max is bright, alert and happy. He purrs and gurgles when he sleeps in my arms.
He loves to sit by the windows now and look for birdies.

Scritches and hugs to all of Max's kitty friends and hugs from me to all of you.

Hi Randi, We miss you, too, and we're so glad that Max is doing well. But a whole pound of weight gain!!! You've gotta put that boy on a diet!! When we finally get our schedules figured out and can meet in Plattsburgh, I'll show you the very best toy for exercise. We call it the "Big Bug", but I think it's real name is Cat Dancer. It is irresistible and provides wonderful exercise. It's great that Max can jump up on the bed now. And is he still climbing the stairs to get to his litterbox? Every little bit helps!
Have a lovely Victoria Day weekend. Maybe sometime in June we can "do" Petsmart.

Hey Max, old Buddy. Are you coming to the Full Flower Moon party on Thursday? All us guys are going to wear flowers. And I'm going to cook up some appropriate dishes. I'll even make a low-cal one just for you! See you then.

Your pal, Stu

It's great to see a condo from you and Max! I love hearing that he's jumping into bed and wants to snuggle.

You might want to pay a visit to Dr. Lisa's site and and read the section on feline obesity to Max. It may help him to reduce his calories!

What a wonderful report for Max...so nice to read! Hey, Full Moon party at ours on Thursday....
I'm sure my two have already been talking with Max...just thought YOU should know Randi.
Can Max arrange coming with Luna and Bast? Hope you guys can p/u Logan as usual..k?
Yippee!!
A party! Can't wait to see Max...take care of yourself Randi...and thanks for all you do here! :YMHUG:

Great report about Miracle Max! Those numbers are really nice and even the 88 is a big nothing. :-D Totally normalsville!
Have fun chasing him around the house for exercise, when I do that it seems I'm the one getting the exercise since my cats scoot under a piece of furniture at the first opportunity, knowing I can't/won't crawl after them. I swear can I hear them laughing at me.

Yay!! A MAX report.

Sounds like he is doing just GREAT, Randi.

The food thing is such a hard one, for all the reasons you mentioned. On the one hand they need to eat, on the other..they need to not eat too much.
Several mos. prior to Hank's DX, i was So worried about his weight knowing it was bad for his health. + he was sleeping all the time and didn't have alot of energy. BUT, he's a cat! Well, low and behold he also was a cat with FD unbeknownst to me.
But once they are sick of course you just want them to eat anything. I started worrying the other direction about his loss of appetite & often bringing food to him if seemed too long.I think things have evened out now. He's kept the weight he did lose off but is eating better overall. I also discovered he is more of a night eater -vs- during the day. (like me) I know Max also had you bringing food to him for awhile too...but I think you said you said you had trained him out of that.
i think now that Max is OTJ and healthy in that regard, you probably can be more aggressive with his diet. I really think the mini-meals have helped Hank. It's better for his pancreas AND his weight. It's also how I lost weight. I think you may be more hard core on the carbs than us...but it really is a tough call since alot of those have more fat in them.
Has Max been grouchy with you downsizing his amounts?

I think the chasing is great. My guys love catnip and go crazy when they get some..in a good way.
It may be that you just haven't found the right toy yet. You know how they are and go through stages. Have ya'll tried the laser?

So great you are relaxing more with the testing. Isn't it great to exhale finally knowing how well they are doing?
You won't believe that I actually forgot and went 5 days w/out testing Hank!

Anyway, great report today. So glad to see you guys here. We miss you!

Hank says hi to Max!

ooh yeah, gotta get some weight off. that's a lot for most kitties. running around the house sounds good to me. :)
you don't need to test that often any more, right? maybe move it down to once a week?

Hi Randy and Max!

Congrats on Max's OTJ! Woo hoo!

Wishing you great success with the continued awesome numbers.. (whispers.. and the weight loss program)..

I love to see this wonderful Max update. It is always great to see you, Randi! Enjoy your long Dollard weekend

Great Max report, Randi! So good to hear he's doing well. He and Logan are about the same size. A couple of weeks ago he was up to 19.3 lbs. It's a struggle b/c they need to eat and it's hard to say no to them when they're ill. Dr Lisa was very concerned about Logan's size and sad the fat could be causing some of his insulin resistance, in addition to the pred. She said he needs to be on a food that has at least 40% protein. On the food chart, she picked out Merrick Cowboy b/c it is the closest in carbs/protein/fat that they would get in the wild. It has beef so we can't try it with Logan. Just a thought.

Hope the rest of your babies are doing as well as Max!

Very nice WCR. Hope you're doing well, too.

As a child we had a cat that I always felt was a little on the chubby side - I used to drag a string and he'd chase it and I'd run through the house like that. He has to want the string, though. :)

Thanks for all of the weight loss suggestions. Max only eats FF so I will need to start rechecking the labels and maybe look into the merrick for him. I have 13 cases of FF stocked up from last week's trip to the U.S. to score .30 cent cans.

Max looks at me like I am a moron when iItry and get him to play with a toy. I got somehing cute with a furry thing and ball and he gives a paw or 2. His sister loves it. I migt try a laser light. He has slept most of the day today, woke up to eat dinner and is now back in his bed, after a stop to sit on my lap.

nice to see a Max condo!

I'm no help on the kitty weight loss thing, I'm a complete and utter failure in that department.

Wondering in my condo....about the kitchen and was it due to catnip? How did you get to that conclusion? I never realized you thought it was from that. I think with her it is spite when I don't let her out on the terrace. I might be wrong....and I hope it's nothing that is bothering her otherwise. It's just that she seems so fine in all other respects.....hmmmm.....

  maybe u just havent found the "it" toy that'll make him jump through hoops! lol!
Aw poor Max...I kinda like the idea to re-look at the calories thing someone mentioned.

Good Max report either way! Always nice to see you both posting! :-D

OMG WE MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
Max Moonie has never forgotten you & sees you here, her kitty heart is fluttering!! She knows I am talikng to your bean now, & sends Big Hugs to Max--All sounds so well there, we are so GLAD!!
We are doing well here too, but wish you would come by more often.
Moonie has one little red mouse that I saw her really play with the other day(I was so happy)-Otherwise, she bats a toy around a few times & walks away..She does like catnip sticks & has never peed from them!
She does however, as you well know, vault herself up into the cat napper, so she gets aerobic exercise for that 5 times a day( testing spot you know)--Well, we are overjoyed you came to visit & we do see a few posts from you in our condo--
But we know you are real Happy at the Falls--Love U Both!! HUGS~!

Hi Randi & Max - it is wonderful to read about you two, getting to know you better. 19.5 is one big kitty. My Bruski has been dieting and is down to 19.5 from 21.5, our goal is 15. And Lanky is up to 13. We should start our own kitty rugby team with these bruisers, no? We so enjoyed your Caturday report. Whenever it is that you speak with those vets about OJT Max, be sure to give us a full report. There is nothing like good news!
