I only fed Champ one small meal of his homemade raw yesterday and we had only blues and greens. The PM cycle the day before was solid yellow while I fed him the raw. Of course, he had had a 41 during his AM cycle that day, so maybe this was his version of a bounce. I'll experiment with the raw again, but I'll wait until he has a cycle that has no extreme low numbers to bounce from and then feed the raw the next cycle and see how it goes.
About a week ago, I was walking to my office from the living room and stepped in something wet. Champ had coughed up his first hairball of his life!!! I had no idea that it was the shape of poo, but completely all hair!!! Champ was acting like he didn't feel well yesterday and then had an episode of coughing. At least it looked like one of his coughing episodes (he has a bit of asthma and has periodic episodes of coughing to get up whatever is in his lungs). When a cat coughs, it actually looks like they're trying to hack something up so I'm wondering now, since he hacked up a hairball last week, if last night he was trying to get rid of another hairball. What does it look like when a cat is trying to get a hairball up? Champ is shedding something awful. I used to shave him every summer because he has such a dense undercoat and it just lets loose in the summer. I was spending so much money on doctor appointments because the hair, which is super fine, would get in my eyes and I get severe allergic reactions to it. The membrane surrounding my eyeball actually swells and fills with fluid and there's intense itching. I haven't had him shaved since he became diabetic because, I know this sounds morbid, if the worst happens and he dies, I don't want him to die without having his fur. I'm just going to brush him every other day and see if that keeps the shedding down.
Well, off to work. Looks like my busy week is continuing.....
Have a wackily wonderful Wednesday everyone!!!!!
