5/15, Susie, 81 @ +2 pm Need Help

You have her down into the blue at plus four... like yesterday... can you keep her there a little longer than yesterday? Feeding? Have a nice Saturday, Summer.
I have been splitting her food up like I was told to. Hopefully, it is making a bit of a difference. She did have a 118 at +7 which was weird. I have always thought she had her nadir at +6 but then I thought that had changed to +4 and today it looks like +7 but I did not get a +6 test so who knows? I'm just happy I am not getting a lot of yellows and, honestly, the greens make me nervous. This is kinda where I wanted to be but would love her blues to be lower.

Susie dropped to 107 at +9 which might be the lowest she has ever been this late in the day. She did get a 109 at +9 on 5/11 but she was rising at the time and she is dropping now from her 118 @+7. I went ahead and fed her 1/4 l/c food but can someone tell me what they think is going on and what I can do to keep her a little higher before PMPS and into the night?

Should I skip the "fat" 3 units tonight and just go with 3 units. I really don't want to deal with greens at night.

104 @ +11. I'm not comfortable shooting a full dose at PMPS. I know there was I time when I shot a 64 at PMPS but, in hindsight, I always thought that was careless. We are SLGS so we have more flexibility. What do you think I should do?

@Wendy&Neko or @Bandit's Mom or @tiffmaxee or @JaxBenji or anyone that can advise.

She just isn't coming up today and that disturbs me.

Well... look like you got your lower blues. You must be pleased. Congratulations!

Thanks, Suzanne. Disappointed I did not get additional advice after asking for it. Susie dropped to 78 at PMPS so I did not shoot. She has done nothing but come down all day. Darcy looks better today. Are you encouraged? How is his appetite? How is his demeanor? I hope you and he are okay. By the way, thanks for checking in with me. You are the only one who has in the last two hours despite my ? in my post.

Hi Summer, I have been following you all day but have no expertise in dosing. I have been going over your spreadsheet for this year and trying to find how much Susie usually drops at PMPS. The problem is there is no way to predict whether she would go up or down after insulin. I am so sorry you felt abandoned, I should have let you know I was there for you but not with advice. :( Sending hugs and apologies :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Sometimes you have to check who is online and tag them.

Thank you, Adrienne. I did tag some people who I thought were following me on this. Doesn't matter. I always appreciate your support. I consider you a good friend in this journey.

Sorry no one got back to you, Summer. In the future maybe you’d consider doing a token dose?

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts for me and Ruby over the past few days. :bighug:
I thought about a token dose and actually measured out a 2.75 unit syringe but when I saw she had dropped to 78 I just decided to skip the shot all together. I would rather her be high for a day than too low for an hour. I'm so sorry about everything you are going through with Ruby. What did you decide? To go ahead and do the ultrasound or just to bring your girl home? Sorry, I have been a little preoccupied today and haven't been following your later post.

Thank you Summer, that means so much. I am so grateful to you and your support and consider you a good friend as well. I just wish I had let you know I was there to support whatever decision you made. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I decided to leave Ruby at the hospital for another day for observation but she’s doing very well and she’s coming home tomorrow. We are not going to proceed with any further diagnostics for now.

I'm so happy to hear that. She will be so happy to be coming home. I know it was a tough decision for you to not have the endoscopy. Sometimes, we just have to go with out guts and the last thing we want to do is put our kitties into any kind of invasive situation - even if it is just a needle biopsy - if it isn't absolutely necessary. I hope you never have to face that decision again.

Susie is back down to 81 at +2 pm despite the fact that she has had no insulin tonight. I went ahead and fed her 1/2 can of FF gravy lovers. I do not want to give karo or honey. I'm just trying to understand what is going on here. Can anyone shed some light on this? Please!

Summer all I can say is when Dolly got her fur shot on 4/16 she remained low/green all day up until her PMPS. They have the Depo to fall back on but if she didn’t get insulin at next shot time, PMPS, her numbers would start to go up. This is my ”educated “ answer. Susie will probably be fine, no spikes, until morning but you shouldn’t have to worry :nailbiting: about limes :D coming to visit either. I don’t think she needs mc or hc. Lc will keep her surfing safely. Her numbers may remain low but safe until the depot empties. I know you will get some people with real knowledge and a better explanation  Bottom line, you may feel uncomfortable but Susie will be safe. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

With SLGS you don't shoot anything below 90. So skipping was the right thing to do. You're most likely seeing action from the depot. Without the shot tonight her numbers should start to come up soon. You shouldn't have to keep testing and feeding all night.

Today's numbers may be the from a small bounce this morning from the low blues last night. Today may have been a bounce clearing cycle. Sometimes during a bounce clearing cycle, the numbers can keep going down and you can get a late nadir.

Sorry no one answered your question about the dose, but the people you tagged were most likely not on the board. Everyone is not on all of the time, especially on the weekends. :bighug:

Fwiw, it appears to be a small bounce from the lower blue last night (bit surprised she bounced from that but you never know what they'll do!) and then she broke the bounce today.

I'm not sure if it's carryover, or that the bounce break was hard enough to keep her coming down a bit. Based on her history however, it usually takes her a few cycles to react...so it's entirely possible it's carryover from the fat 3 finally kicking in.

Perhaps the unspoken question - I don't think you could have predicted this would happen, and I don't think you'll be able to predict if/when this might happen going forward. Just one of those things that come out of the blue, like Mr Kitty going from 94 to 277 in an hour o_O I think you're clear of it now though.

She obviously earned a reduction...perhaps an even 3U? What are your thoughts?

Curious to see if she bounces in the AM.
