should be about wheezer but ain't nothing changed there. driving me crazy with his numbers for no rhyme or reason.
on to the boyz. sent this to BOBS mom for blog but thought I would copy/paste here to as an update
I took the boyz for a second opinion and this vet did give them each a half dose of depo-medrol (steroid) on 4/29. he does not think they need skin scrapings (although jess disagrees). anyhow. twinkie has been without his e-collar and all meds (except lysine ,transfer factor and fish oil), have been stopped. today is day 17 after shot and he remains itch/lick free. sensitivity if touching has greatly diminished. read somewhere that was an indication that there is itchiness. I do have 3 more half doses I can give if needed but so far so good. IF he starts up again, I am going to try the special allergic foods for 3 months. venison/duck with pea to absolutely r/o food allergies. they say the only way to do that is with a protein that they never had before. also, twinkies eyes have cleared up. no more runny eyes or sneezing since depo shot. praying this one small dose was/is enough to break the cycle. I still think stress is what set this all off but no one seems to agree with me lol
both boys BG have risen and thus their insulin dosage But, as of today, they both hit the number of 31 at +3.5. so looks as though depo is getting out of system and i can start decreasing their doses again and hopefully OTJ cause i really think both can do it.
beasley , has gone from #18 12.4 oz down to #14 9.8 oz and next weight sunday and I am sure a few more ounces will have melted away.
they are both very relaxed and like to sleep on chairs in the kitchen. guess they want to make sure they do not miss any meals. they are starting to play with each other and me. will try and get a vid of twinkie play hand wrestle with me.
Had them outside in the cat walk form 11 AM til 5PM. twinkie again hit the 30's which surprised me very much. fed him a hefty meal and shot 1u. +2.5 and he was 25. needless to say, he had a rather large snack and an hour later 45. gonna keep this dose of 1u. I did drop it down considerably.
Beasley remains at 2.5. seems as though depo like him better. he had been on 1u prior to steroid. hopefully he will start dropping again. he WILL NOT get any further steroids cause I think his skin problem was self inflicted with his nails and the normal itch and he scratched self.
so that is about it.
very good boys and funny as all get go. should have seen beasley chasing a moth. at least with his weight loss, he can do that now

what a great WCR for both boys. I love goofball kitties, they make home a fun place to be.

They both hit 31 at the same time? Freaky... nailbite_smile

Dian - those are wonderful reports on the boys. That's great - wow - you're getting some low numbers there.

And Wheezer is still pulling his tricks, eh? I've been trying to keep him and Dude from being in touch with each other. Hmmmm..

So glad the boys are doing well - that's great.

Hugs,

Emmy & Dude (& Mittsi too)

So good to hear from you Dian! I love hearing about the boyz. Wow! Beastly has lost a lot of weight! I hope you are doing okay as well.

I was just wondering about the boyz earlier today (all three of them). Glad to hear they're making themselves at home and coming out of their shells.

aaaaaaaack. weighed the boys and one gained 3oz and the other 5oz? does not seem right cause food has not increased. could be variances in postal scale and how much they move around. if not, then this is very depressing.
also looks as though depo is wearing off. both have a dose crease 1 u and 1.25. I did drop them more than the average dosecrease but I feel special circumstances due to steroid.
cannot get any noodles form jojo nailbite_smile since not around much and all noodle are bad by now and she cannot make anymore

Dian maybe you should wait a couple of days to weigh them....do you think it is from the hc you gave them yesterday for the low numbers?
Just trying to make you feel better.

What a great report on the boyz, Dian!!! I'm so glad that you decided to rent a condo for Caturday and keep us all up to date! I too think that the itchies were caused by stress and it just snowballed from there. I'm thinking that they now have more room to roam and can socialize with you and the stress is probably less now. I am so glad that the depo worked for them and I hope that they don't need anymore.
Now...about their weight....is it possible that the depo may have helped in the weight gain? You know, like water weight? Another thing I thought about......are you sure that you read it right, I mean....did you have your glasses on your eyes AND on your forehead?

I guess Wheezer is going to be Wheezer and make you crazy for the rest of your life...You are just not going to be able to predict what he is going to do...and I think he likes it that way, lol :-D

Okey dokey, gotta run and check out some more condos while I have a few moments and I've got to get my addy out to you. Have a wonderful day, Dian...hope you aren't working to hard today..Sunday is a day of rest (yea, sure, lol)
