I sure would like to be able to get him back in the blues. I did it with R yesterday, but it's still not sustainable because it's so short acting. I really can't have him in the yellows, unless it very low/borderline with blue, because of his kidneys. I won't allow it, if I can help it. I don't have time on my side with regard to his kidneys so I can't just use the old platitudes on myself like... "high glucose kills slowly" etc. I'm just talking about getting a cat into the blues. I am actually going out to lunch with my husband today and so I don't think I can give the R -- unless it works out that I give a small amount because I won't be gone that long -- and can get home in two hours to test (for Darcy it takes at least 2 hours to see a drop with R). We will see. The Lev doesn't seem to be working as it should at this dose. Once the R wears off he starts to rise again.

Oh well... nobody wants to hear my ranting. The more interesting thing is how happy and snuggly he has been this morning. He's been wanting to get really close and he has been purring a lot while lying next to me. And he got up into the window to do some bird watching since there's a feeder right outside his window. He hasn't done that in a long time... now if he would only EAT! I'm off to give fluids and food now because I have to get out of here before too long for that lunch :-) and I still have other cats to take care of as well. Rushing... rushing...

Hope you are able to enjoy that lunch! And rant away, that's also what we're here for!

Based on your description of Darcy's behavior today, he definitely deserves :cat::banghead:. Happy cat, stressed out mama. One of those times where if you didn't know the numbers and just observed his behavior, your own mental health would be a lot better. Before I was poking her ear here, that's all the previous IM would ask - how is she doing clinically? And I would have to ask what she meant! And usually it was - she's doing fine 'clinically'. Now I have all these other numbers to check.... I don't know how you do it with other cats as well. I am in awe.

He's not going for Hi-P tiny tiger? EAT DARCY, EAT!!

I hope you were able to enjoy your lunch and I now consider you to be a "rocket scientist" with all the info you provided yesterday about the HCV. You certainly know your blood test. I'm so glad to hear that Darcy was feeling better and doing a little birdwatching. I know he is not your only cat concern but I also know he is your most important one. I keep praying that he will start eating. I think you are doing everything you can to help him. Just don't give up. I had a miracle, my one in life, last year with my beloved golden retriever. A little bit of a long story but,

just at the point (the moment) I was going to call the vet to come put her down, I got my miracle. No drugs, no vets involved. Just my prayers. I still have her today. I'm sure I will never have another miracle but I will take the one I did get for my Molly Pop.

Hi Suzanne, hope it was a nice relaxing lunch. I am perfectly fine with your ranting and totally jealous of Darcy’s snuggling, Dolly, never :(. She will get on my lap with a pillow under her, never right on my body and only for 5 minutes or so. Her favorite thing is to have her ears rubbed, she’s in heaven. She can’t meow or make most cat sounds but she can make that wonderful rolling over and over purring so loudly and that “I’m in heaven twirling purr” moving her head under my hand with absolute joy :joyful::joyful: . I am sending Dolly’s fill your tummy and no vomiting message straight to Darcy. :cat::cat:. Praying for a good meal for both of you, maybe a drink or two and some peace of mind. Getting out I think really changes our perspective. Big hugs to all :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Having a glass of wine right now, thank you, Adrienne! Seriously, thanks for all of your thoughts and good wishes. That's funny that you mention that Dolly can't meow. There are some cats that just don't meow or make very faint meows. I've had a few that only would get loud if they were really "in extremis." I even have had foster kittens where the new adoptive mom wrote to me and asked if I ever noticed how the kitty did not meow. I have a foster kitten right now who is really cute. He opens his mouth and "meows" a lot... but not much comes out except something like a little hissing sound. It's actually very cute, because he carries on as if her were begging for his food with lots of little kitten meows. My kids talk about making him practice his "voice lessons." :-)

I hope you and Dolly and Rob are okay! Does Dolly do that "chirping" sound.... like a little trill? Or is it just her purr? Funny also how some cats have a really big purr and others a quiet purr (you almost have to feel their throat to see if they are purring.)

Wait. What happened? I wanted to read the story about Molly Pop and the attachment disappeared? :-( Did it contain the story about Molly? Goldens are great. They’ll let you do anything to them (the ears).

I don't know what happened to the picture of Molly Pop but my point was to not give up. How is Darcy this evening?

Oh. I saw the adorable picture of Molly Pop! I was mistaken. I thought you had an attachment that told me the story of what happened. I wanted to hear about it. It sounds beautiful. Darcy was eating a little more this evening. BGs getting bad again though. Will have to do something about that!

I keep thinking to myself that your only concern should be to get Darcy to eat. And then I remember all the other problems he has and how you are so desperately trying to make them all good and balance out all of his issues. I, honestly, do not know how you wonderful caregivers can deal when there are so many issues that are wrong with your kitties. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I feel so badly for all the folks on this site that are dealing with so much more than the diabetes. Just know that you and Darcy are constantly in my heart and my prayers as is all the other kitties with issues - like poor Ruby.

Thanks, Summer. Yes. I just wrote several (way too long, I am sure) notes to Lyla about dear Butters who has had a seizure again. This is what I was just talking about. And you, too, are dealing with this with Susie... as you try to navigate potential liver problems that you are unsure about and which antibiotic to choose to help her, etc. We love... and then we bear a burden for our pets (and a lot of time for other people who depend on us as well)... and we are forced to make choices that are hard.

I hope that you will have a restful night, Summer.

Dolly seems to have a damaged voice box. She was already 4 when we adopted her and came with lots of fear. She was a foster kitty. She does make that little trill, it’s beautiful. When she is playing it’s more of a grunting sound and she often talks with her mouth moving but no sounds come out, it is the best. Her purr is very loud. I have to go back to bed but there you were and I needed to see how you and Darcy were doing. I hope tomorrow is a better day for Darcy, Butters and Ruby. You have become like a second family to me and all of your cats have a piece of my heart. Sleep well Suzanne. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm not seeing a current post for you Suzanne. I hope you post today, I'm a little worried about how fast you are increasing (too fast) and amounts (too large an increase) for the depot insulins. I'd also like to hear a Darcy update.:bighug:
