Hi LL-

Boomer's BG looked okay today. I've only given him lantus one day on May 10th when he was 182 and then after the PM shot he went to 57. I think I will actually take the vet's advice on this and not shoot unless he's over 200.

So right now he's staying at a guest house next to the Falls and visiting during the day. He goes back to this house at night to work the night shift (he's got a part time job to help pay for his medical bills) until we're sure that he can go back to the Falls full time.

This morning he was a crazed maniac-which is good. Pawing at the blinds to get me up to eat. Annoying, but thats what I want! He ate extremely well. He got his first leuk last night and I'm hoping he stays happy and healthy. I hope it's not too big a dose for him.

Got another call from IM vet telling me he's got exocrine pancreatic insuffiency and that I need to add enzymes to his food to help him digest food. Does anyone else have a cat that needs enzymes added to their food? The two she mentioned were viokase and pancreazyme. She says giving him this will help him gain weight.

I think I'm going to start writing an encyclopedia on Boomer's issues! Holy sh*t!!!!

  Sitting here at work chuckling at my desk!! Very nice report for Boomer, Traci. Lovely AMBG to book. I'm so glad he is feeling better!! What a happy mama bean you must be!!!

great report traci! Does boomer know of a job away from the falls where mocha could start kicking back what we have put out for her? I would ask for a job near the falls but mocha seems deathly afraid of that area, but she really does need to start pitching in around here!

Glad you guys enjoy my weird-a$$ sense of humor. I have to laugh. He's lucky he's so stinkin' cute or I'd be on my way to the nut house (again). ;-)

Cheryl & Winnie did. I think there may be a significant difference between the two - check with her.

injectable B12 has been used to great effect in helping cats with IBD and other gastro disorders.
Boomer gets B-12 once a month and we just tested to see if its working and it is normal so I will continue to give it once a month. He gets fortiflora daily. I also put nutritional yeast on his food daily-he loves the taste and it's loaded with vitamins and minerals, especially B vitamins. It's gluten free.

Once a month may not be sufficient to start with. See TAMU's protocol for cobalamin therapy Ask your vet if that's more appropriate for Boomer?

You're using the injectable form of B12, right?

I'm using injectable B-12. I have his TLI/B-12/Folate labs in from of me. The range of of "normal" for B-12 is 276-1225 and he's off the charts with >2000. He's "high" but she didn't say that was bad and told me to keep doing the shot once a month.

His TLI is .5 and the normal is 12-82, he is "low" and thus I need the enzymes.

His Folate is 12.8 with the normal range of 8.9-19.9 - he's "normal" on this one.

Great to see that Boomer's BG levels are staying so nice and low through all this. Looks like things are coming together to find some answers for his IBD too. :thumbup

Looking good here! I'm glad he's back to being annoying and eating well for you. :-D

Take Care,
