Good afternoon,
after a very high night we saw some yellow again. Binie ate a little in the morning before the shot but it is still a struggle. I had to give her the high carb royal canin again to make her eat. I didn't measure the ketones because yesterday evening and today I did not get enough blood and she was not cooperative. I will try again tonight but I will give insulin first because even that gets more difficult.
Looking at her numbers I think I should go up to 3.25 tomorrow if she doesn't see any blue below 150 in the next cycle. Right? I am a bit scared she will go down quickly when the (still undiagnosed) pancreatitis heals but I think looking at her bg and the problem with the ketones it is worth to take the risk.
I had e-mail contact with the vet today. She said usually the litter eating is associated with two problems: either anemia or gastritis. She thinks the last one is more likely if she looks at the last blood test from the clinic. So I will pick up some omeprazol tonight to help with the gastritis and also some b-vitamins as her haematocrit is low even if it is not anemia. On friday we planned to do another blood test anyway because she is due to control her thyroid hormons, than we can check the haematocrit again.
I was very worried Binie may get a bowel obstruction because of the clumping litter. This morning she pooped quite normal again so this was a relief. I promised myself to never go back to the clumping litter. The woodchips are perfectly fine and I can even flush them in the toilet. So much more convenient!
Hope everyone is having a beautiful afternoon!
