day before yesterday
today is the day we celebrate punkin's birthday! he was a homeless kitter and had been living in a cage for about 3 months when i happened on him at the humane society in may 1998. they said he was a year old, so we picked may 1st as his birthday.
i had taken my high school youth group to volunteer there on a sunday afternoon, and everyone conspired to get me to adopt him. i sat down, kathy gave him to me and he melted into my lap. didn't look at me, but he let loose with his incredible loud purr while i petted his gorgeous orange coat. cat_pet_icon fifteen kids started in on me to persuade me to adopt him.
i said "my husband will kill me if i bring home another pet"
and the kids said "we'll go with you to tell him. he won't get mad in front of us." ;-)
i said "i don't have a checkbook with me" :? and another adult said "i have my checkbook - you can pay me back later."
what else could i say? the universe wanted him to be in our family. ;-)
he came home with me that afternoon, of course my husband didn't get mad (he almost never does), i paid back the friend, and punkin found a family.
so thirteen years we've enjoyed & been blessed with the love of the little guy. dancing_cat
today, he is furry, purry, fluffy and happy to be a member of the Clean Plate Club. He made sure anya got in too! ;-)
