After 4 years of being wonderfully diet controlled, Stormy Blue's #s started creeping back up into the 200-250 range on a regular basis. Urine output increased, water consumption increased. (Even though he gets subQ LRS daily for his CRD). No, I had not changed his diet. No, he is not sick in any way, (tests yesterday back that up). His teeth are fine. No, no changes in the home routine.... NOTHING had changed except for his numbers creeping up from his normal of around 70-80 whenever tested to 200 to 280 - and he has lost a bit over a pound in the last couple of months, which is a HUGE amount for a tiny kitty like him. I took away his daily 1/8C Evo cat & kitten kibble and replaced it with boiled chicken breast. His numbers barely moved. Dropped to 180-200ish. For 2 weeks.

So, 3 days ago, I put him back on insulin. Lantus. 1 whole drop BID. That was bringing his numbers down, but not below 150. So today, I increased him to 1/8 unit. Roughly 2 drops. 3 hours after his shot, he is at 63. Gah! We are in for a wild ride, I think.

Sorry to see you here, but welcome back for what I hope is just a short visit.

Not much to say that you don't already know, so whether you're back on insulin for a short time or long time, you know you've got lots of support and guidance here.

Sorry to hear that.. Hopefully the insulin will get him back on track. Are you coming over to the tight regulation forum?

Thanks, Blue. I am hoping this is a short term thing myself. He was only on insulin for about 6 months the first go round., He went DC pretty quickly. I am hoping for the same results again. :)

Thanks, Wendy. I might visit the TR sub-forum if I have any questions, or concerns that I need help resolving. Right now, I am just giving him micro-doses, testing him like he is a pincushion, and praying - a lot. LOL Just tested him an hour ago, and he is at 153.

I remember Stormy Blue! You are an amazing momcat ;) If you did it before you can do it again. My heart goes out to you but really, Stormy is in the BEST home possible.
Sending positives out for you both.
