After 4 years of being wonderfully diet controlled, Stormy Blue's #s started creeping back up into the 200-250 range on a regular basis. Urine output increased, water consumption increased. (Even though he gets subQ LRS daily for his CRD). No, I had not changed his diet. No, he is not sick in any way, (tests yesterday back that up). His teeth are fine. No, no changes in the home routine.... NOTHING had changed except for his numbers creeping up from his normal of around 70-80 whenever tested to 200 to 280 - and he has lost a bit over a pound in the last couple of months, which is a HUGE amount for a tiny kitty like him. I took away his daily 1/8C Evo cat & kitten kibble and replaced it with boiled chicken breast. His numbers barely moved. Dropped to 180-200ish. For 2 weeks.
So, 3 days ago, I put him back on insulin. Lantus. 1 whole drop BID. That was bringing his numbers down, but not below 150. So today, I increased him to 1/8 unit. Roughly 2 drops. 3 hours after his shot, he is at 63. Gah! We are in for a wild ride, I think.
