Cats are made of contrariness.
Due to a lack of options that Minerva will happily eat at the moment we have been mostly relying on frozen raw patties made of goat meat and bone, lamb liver, and pork heart. She loves them. They are technically a supplement not a complete food according to the packet but we were happy they have offal in them, and the only complete foods she would eat were medium-carb and even then she didn't eat a lot of it, so we have been trying to balance it all out.
Yesterday she was offered goat patties and some raw salmon mince. She ignored the salmon, and while she ate the goat patties over the day it was a lower amount then she has been trending, and then the same in the evening. I was fully expecting that if she didn't eat overnight we would be dosing cerenia and mirtazapine this morning.
Instead, she polished off her overnight meal down to licking her bowl clean, and woke us for food (which we made her wait for so we got a mostly-fasted pre-shot).
And then her pre-shot was totally different to how she has been trending! It could be because her overall food consumption in the last 24 hours was reduced, but I was so pleased to get a yellow. I gave her the 1.25 as wasn't sure if I should follow a big change in pre-shot with another change in insulin, plus we can't monitor, but if I increase tonight then we can monitor and get up overnight if we need to.
And then after her shot, I put out her goat and then out of curiosity I offered her a Fancy Feast and she demolished half a tin of FF on the spot. So, no drugs today, and I think her aversion of FF is waning which is awesome! All around a good morning.
