Thank goodness we had a more reasonable drop last night and I was able to get some sleep.
I've been researching the Libre since these last few nights have made me very nervous about being gone for 9-10 hours a day with no way to monitor other than watching Ember on the camera and trying to decide if she's sweetly napping or in a coma. 😜 I keep weighing pros and cons... I called Costco and they're $77 a pop, which would add up super quickly, since it sounds like most users go through multiples a month... I'd also have to get a new phone, since the previous one I have is so ancient it's not supported on the Abbott app. In a perfect world I could find some awesome person to go to my house every work day at 7am to to a quick BG test and I'd know if I needed to rush home to intervene... (While I'm dreaming, world peace would be nice too!)
Safe surfing, all.
? - 4/6 Ember AMPS 366 Another reduction? Or hold?

I hope you won't mind that I tag @Staci & Ivy. Perhaps she can offer some guidance on the Libre.

Hi Elaine,
Have you had a chance to read about the Libre in our document? It gives lots of good insight.

As to the cost, I know @Brianna & Xander was able to get her Libres at Costco in CA and was paying $30 each for them.
(I’m sure that’s a member price, but if you plan to use them, it’s worth the cost to become a member if you’re not one and have a Costco near you.
You don’t need to be a member to get prescriptions there, but it’s better pricing if you are)
As for the phone, I bought an older iPhone 8 on eBay and it was very inexpensive).
I would probably buy a little newer version at this point, but it’s been perfect for the past 3 years for me).
You don’t need any service for it, so no phone plan to pay for.
Works on Bluetooth and WiFi.
If you have any questions, please ask!

I did read that document and checked out the Facebook page that it mentioned. It’s very helpful!
Do you happen to know if I could use an iPad instead of a phone? Someone in my rescue offered to donate their old iPad to me. (Granted it may be as old as my old phone so I may still need to get one. That’s a good idea to look on eBay.)

I’ve read an iPad won’t work to scan the Libre and work as the device you use to read the Libre.
You can “receive” data through Libre Linkup on the iPad.
But that’s not the issue here.
💕
Do you know anyone with an older phone (doesn’t have to be an iPhone can be an android) but no longer uses or needs it?
Sometimes people are willing to just give them away.
Here is a quick search on eBay what they have sold for recently for an iPhone 8.

Good to know about the iPad. I bet someone does have an old phone lying around, and if not, those aren’t as pricey as I feared. Thank you!
