Hi, I am way too new to this to have any advice so will let the more knowledgeable folks reply here, but am wondering if you caught the BG ad 49 and had to intervene or did it climb up naturally? And was evey symptomatic?

It depends on when the low number happens. if it happens early in the cycle, I will move up her meal time a bit in order to boost up her BG. if It's later in the cycle when the insulin effect is almost gone, I won't worry too much because I know her BG will climb up after the insulin effect is gone. She has no symptoms at low numbers. I guess you need to get enough data to know your cat's BG curve so you know what you should do with your cat when the low numbers happen. It's not an easy process. When I first started TR, I was anxious every day because I was (I'm still) really afraid of low blood sugar. But after knowing how my cat reacts to the insulin and with all the help from this forum, I'm less anxious.

honestly you seem like you have a titanium spine in my opinion to be able to let 49 rise organically. I’m truly impressed.

curious, why TR over slgs? I have found many folks are much more favorable toward TR but TR seems like a daily stressful white-knuckle ride. I have reviewed some of the spreadsheets for the TR kitties and they live in the 50-80 range which just seems terrifying to me.

I'll let @Evey speak for herself regarding TR, but the appeal for me is that it is a scientifically proven protocol that gets kitties into remission. Caregivers may have to experience periods where they must test frequently when kitty is getting into healing numbers, but the outcome is definitely worth the stress. It's not always a white-knuckle ride. Look at my spreadsheet. We went through a period where I was carb manipulating to keep Jude above the dangerous numbers, but we hit a breakthrough dose, and then we reduced dosing to a point where I wasn't carb manipulating Jude constantly (no more white-knuckle ride). But now he's fairly regulated. Bottom line, with TR, the CG can hold the dose at a lower point than with SLGS, which often results in getting kitty into healing numbers, and, hopefully, remission.

I don't have a titanium spine. When I first started to give her insulin and she dropped to 60s, I freaked out and called the vet. I did that for a quite long time lol.

I chose TR because this one has a higher chance to get kitties into remission. I just want to try everything that can get her into remission. It's stressful but I think it's worth it.
