Good evening, L&LL,

I spent the day on the road. In the morning I went to Lake Placid to Rusty's vet to get a prescription for Relion syringes. This afternoon I drove to Plattsburgh to the Walmart and got the prescription filled. But they gave me syringes with a super-short needle (6mm instead of 8mm, as in the prescription). (see yesterday's condo for a picture of the wrapper). I only discovered this when I got home and wasn't about to drive another 100 miles. The needle looks really short, but I'll get used to it. Tomorrow I'll begin working on "translating" Rusty's dose for the Relions. In the meantime, tomorrow begins my week with the wonderful Terumos (I'm alternating weeks with Monojects and Terumos so the discontinued Terumos will be around longer).
It looks like Rusty had a bounce this morning, or maybe last night was a short shot (it is impossible to measure Rusty's tiny dose on the Monojects because of the cone: the lines, however, are good). This morning's shot was short (about 1/2 drop left in the syringe, plus there was a bubble). We'll see what happens tonight. It's always a surprise with the Monojects.

Edward and Rusty had a good day while I was out. They spent some time outdoors this morning (when it wasn't raining). Rusty's appetite was OK. Edward held his bowl and made sure he ate. At the PetSmart this afternoon I discovered a new (to me) 3-oz can of Wellness Core "smooth paté": I bought the Turkey & Duck (which he likes in the 5.5 oz can) and a Chicken, Turkey and Chicken Liver. I don't think they are exactly the same as the usual Core formulations. For one thing, they are called "recipe", whereas the old Core cans are called "formula". They are carrageenan-free. I'm going to try one on Rusty tomorrow. Calorie content is good. Who knows what the carbs are!

Going down to hold Rusty's dinner bowl. bbl

Good luck with the new fuds. When Neko was being picky, I kept hoping for 3 oz cans instead of 5.5 oz cans so I wouldn't waste as much. Awesome that they are carrageenan free! Looks like a supplier actually listening to customers. :)

Good luck again with the syringes. I don't envy you on the translation. There is something to be said for having no choice.

But they gave me syringes with a super-short needle (6mm instead of 8mm, as in the prescription). (see yesterday's condo for a picture of the wrapper).

How weird!! I've never seen any that were 6mm either!! Mine are either the 30 or 31 gauge, 8mm (sometimes they don't have the 31 gauge when I need them so I have to get the 30....I don't notice any discernable difference and China couldn't care less either)

Hope the new fuds are a hit with our resident gourmet!!!

Yo Rusty....yur mama bought you some new yummy fuds....you eat up and tell us what ya think, ok??

Good luck with the syringes, I wouldn't want to drive 100 more miles to deal with that either!
Curious to see what you and Rusty think of the Wellness you picked up. Ground raw or pate is really were it's when you don't have many teeth left ;)

Same here about good luck with the syringes and the new Wellness formulations. What a day you had and hope Rusty appreciates that you go to the ends of the earth (or 100 miles which can be about the same ;) when you're the one doing it). :bighug:

I started with 6mm syringes for Sootie (because that's what I'd used with Hoppy) but switched to the 8mm along the way. That little bit of extra length seemed to help me feel that it'd gone in and she wasn't bothered by either lengths.

Interested in hearing how Rusty likes the new Wellness. Wellness is one of the basics here on its own or as add in with raw or homemade, depending on what the muse of their preferences reveal. But recently they've nixed some of the new Wellness formulas.

Hope it's a thumbs up. Hope today brings some sunshine your way. We are amidst rain and fog.
:bighug:

These are the two that I give Allen although he much prefers the Turkey & Duck. Perhaps this is why I've been having problems finding this food; the stores haven't got the "new" stock in yet.
This is really interesting. The 3-oz. cans of "regular" Wellness (not "Core") are "Product of Canada." (There was a discussion about this several years ago on the board: the 5.5 oz. cans said "made in the USA", whereas some the 3-oz cans said "Product of Canada", while others said "Made in the USA". When I wrote to the manufacturer about this, they said that they were consolidating their manufacture and that henceforth all of the larger cans would be "made in the USA" and the 3 oz. cans would be "Product of Canada".
Rusty always preferred the "Product of Canada" 3 oz. cans, and in those days I would have to look at each can to see if it was USA or Canada (the texture of the USA cans was "fluffier").
Fast-forward to today. As far as I can tell, all of the Core varieties in the 5.5 oz. cans are made in the USA. The new 3 oz. can reads: "made in Canada with finest global ingred." I cannot find the new cans on Wellness's own website! I worry a little about the sourcing of the "finest global ingred." I'm going to try the Turkey & Duck on Rusty later today and will let you know if he likes it. (but bear in mind that Rusty is not food-motivated!)
p.s. Plattsburgh is very close to the Canadian border and I wonder if the distributor for the Plattsburgh PetSmart is a Canadian distributor.
