He started out on Lantus. After a few months he began twitching when I gave him an injection. I did some research & discovered ,
Lantus has an acid base and that causes the
sting. The acid crystals dissolve in the body and the
sting disappears but it
can feel like a bee
sting initially.
Levemir, has a neutral PH. It seemed to work better for Ravan.
He was fed a Raw meat diet all his life. That's why I was so surprised he even got diabetes. ( Recently I read they are discovering that dry food might cause diabetes in some cats. )
After he got diabetes he began refusing his raw meat. I was advised to try Fancy Feast & I really didn't want to use it. I still think it's "garbage" After a while I realized it was better to occasionally give it to him when he refused all the "good" food I offered. I still refer to Fancy Feast a "Kitty Crack"
Read they spray something on it to make it taste very good to kitties! YUCK!
Check out the Food Chart. I wrote a list of the canned food lowest in Phosphorus. if it's much over 210mg I add a bit of Aluminum Hydroxide Powder to it. He also gets Calcitriol twice a week for Kidney disease. Lots of Info on Cats Kidney disease.

D-Mannose powder 2 times a week to prevent a UTI. It works better than any antibiotic. Knocked out a UTI in 3 days with no side effects. It's all natural.
I've spent many hours doing research. Best way to help your kitty is to learn as much as you can. Some of the things I told my Vet he didn't even know. He retired last year & I miss him so much. He was always open minded to new information.
Best of luck to you & Susie
