180 is the lowest preshot yet, usually when we shoot a number lower than usual we try to monitor a little more closely.

Make sure you get a +1

If that's the same or dropping you could be in for a ride.

Hi

Good advise I was waiting until her +2
Just checked +1 218bg, she could still run.
Yesterday she was playing with the catnip toy maybe it will chill her out with our other cats. This morning she woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was not nice to magic. My wife said well I see Willows back to being herself. Our two other cats are lovers not fighters.

Nice start for Willow James! Happy that she seems to be leveling out now! Hope she doesn't dive on you today!

Thank you

I hope so too.
This was a lower number then normally, let's see her surf in the blue today.
I'm already up dealing with problems with work, going to be a long day

Hello

Here we go again she hit +4.15 68bg
I'll be checking her in 15 to see if she keeps running down

Hi
She just hit +4.15 68bg

That's a good number, but can you stay and monitor her or do you need to go out to work?
Hi
I'm not leaving for awhile today.
This was the only reason I gave her a full amount this morning.
She's a runner!

You are using the human meter aren't you? (68 is ok on human meter but low on pet.)

Has she dropped from 94 to 68 in 15 minutes?
If you can take her to her food and see if she will eat a little now that would be great, and perhaps check in 30 min. (or 15 if you feel more comfy with that )

Yes that was the drop, she ate and is going back for water she is now 78bg

That's great, she may have a surf on:D:D

I have to go out so I can't stay, I have asked some others to pop in, I don't like to leave you hanging, @Bobbie And Bubba @Woodsywife are you ok to hang out with James and Willow?

You say you are not going out for a while, could you be a bit more specific? just wondering how long you have to make sure she is going to be ok.

Hi
She is 61bg again
I'm here for the next few hours, I'm calling clients to let them know I may not make it to see them today
Hit a vain in her ear, blood all over

In 15 minutes I'll be checking her +5

Take her to her food and see if she will eat a little LC for you.

She seems to be bobbling about a bit, so hopefully she will just surf along nicely.

You have probably seen them before but here are the instructions for dealing with low numbers (ie if Willow were to drop below 50), hopefully it won't come to that, and you can just keep her surfing along.
  • Depending on how carbohydrate sensitive your cat is, feed approximately a teaspoon or less of gravy from high carb food or high carb food only. (If you have a cat with GI issues, using a couple of drops of syrup plus low carb food is an alternative.)
  • Test again in 15 – 20 min. Depending on the numbers, give more HC food.
  • Repeat the above steps every 15 – 20 min. until your cat tests in the 50 mg/dL (2.8 mmol/L) or above range for 2 consecutive tests. Continue to feed in small amounts to keep numbers in a safe range.
  • Test in 30 - 40 min. and repeat the test and feed process until there are 2 consecutive tests where numbers are stable or rising.
  • Test in an hour and follow the same steps

So she's surfing. It would be nice if she'd surf just a little higher, but these numbers are really healthy for her. Did she eat before she went back to sleep? If so, you can probably wait 30-45 minutes to test her again. If not, you need to test in 30.

James, have you got another test yet?

Looks like she is surfing,
Wow talk about getting what I asked for! Lol seriously thought she would be yellow or blue if we were lucky.
Green light green was unexpected, good thing I'm stuck home waiting on a delivery truck or I would not gave her 2 units this morning because of her low AMPS number. The good news is I have not had to intervene yet.

The next question will be in the event she is in the green tonight PMPS what amount do I give her? As we know she can drop 100 an hour or so.
Thanks

Yes
She been eating all morning a little at a time.
I picked her up and brought her to her food and she ate and is sleeping in her chair

Good. See what her next number is then, and if she's still rising you can skip feeding and test again in an hour. We want two tests without food to be sure she is safe. She can eat after that second test if she wants, but we like to know she's coming up on her own before you leave her.

Will you be home in time to get a test an hour before shot time? If so, and she is lower than you're comfortable shooting, update this post then for advice, with a ? in the subject line and something like "green PMPS - shoot ?". Then you will get eyes on your SS and people will let you know what to do. It's hard to say right now, because we don't know if she'll be bouncing by then.

Hi

I canceled all my clients today, I'm still waiting on a delivery truck.
As of right now I'll be here, her next test is in 15 minutes, she has not had any more food since 61bg the +5 second number is +5.5
I'll keep posting as the numbers come

That's good. If this next number is higher than the 69 you got last test, don't feed, then test in an hour to see if she's staying up. If so, she should be good to go.

Well that went out the window, I had to run upstairs and when I came down she was eating.

Ha ha. She's a cat! She must have read your post and saw you were going to pull the food.:rolleyes:

She didn't eat after the previous test, did she, the +5.5? So the 84 was without food influence. She's probably just fine, but I'd get a +7 anyway.

Hi she is +7 111bg

Just came back in and she got to the wet food again after I tested her. It is like every time I wake her she thinks time to eat.
She likes to graze all day a little at a time . She clearly heard me say I'll be pulling her food
I do add water to every meal for her to get enough water. I knew this morning when I tested for keytones and the strip was the lightest green this would be an interesting day.
Good thing we bought 400 test strips, right?

Yes. You can never have too many test strips!! When you are running low is when they will be sure to dive.

Even though she ate, I think she is okay now. Don't forget to pull up her food by +10, and maybe +9, so you can get a good reading at +11 and see if you need to make any adjustment in her dose for tonight.

Okay

Thanks
Nothing like a green ride to make my day interesting

Of course she had to bounce :(...but at least we know she can do it....and do it safely!!!

You did great today James!!

Thank you Chris,
I had been saying I will get her out of the yellow and into the blue then green, looks like she wanted the green
Seeing her in the green like this all day justify my reduction from 2.5 to 2 she is still eating a lot of food during the day, she really lets me know when she is hungry.
The delivery truck came about an hour ago and killed my work day however I was able to watch over Willow and that made it all worth it.
Wonder how long this bounce will last .
