A little higher today but not too bad.

@Wendy&Neko do you think I should be looking into Levemir now, or wait until she starts reacting to the Lantus shots?

I’m getting her blood drawn tomorrow at the vet. I’ve got the instructions from MSU and my vet is good with me mailing the sample in myself. I’m just seeing a tech and I think it’s like a 50/50 shot that they’ll be willing to centrifuge and hand over the serum samples I need, but we’ll see. Worst case I shell out again for Idexx to send the sample in (and hopefully not lose it this time).

You'd think Idexx would pick this one up after their last mistake. :banghead: I would contact MSU and double check that they are OK getting the blood from an individual. They did in the past, then they didn't, but we did have one other person do it recently, so maybe it's changed again.

It doesn't hurt to try Levemir now. Some cats get a bit better duration on it. Some cats, especially if IAA present, can get a bit of action as the antibodies react to an insulin they aren't used to. The only issue with Levemir is that the typical onset is +4 and typical nadir is +8. Neko wasn't typical. :p But later on both. It will likely mean later tests during the cycle, so depends on your schedule if that works. For me, I used to often get up at +9 for a workout, so it was a great time for a test. With the later onset I could go out for dinner and a movie again, or go back to bed for a bit after AMPS.

There also aren't any biosimilars or generics for Lev, so you have to get the real thing. Most people with cats on large doses of Levemir in the US, get it online from Marks Marine. You have to consider when you order it, as you don't want long shipping delays if the weather is warm. Marks is located about 25 minutes drive from me, and it's only just gotten warmer here but by no means summer weather yet.

I talked to them on the phone. They really would prefer people not send them samples directly, but they will take them. You have to write self pay on the form and include a check with the payment. We’ll see how it goes.
