Starting his trial at the pm cycle is confusing my brain... it's not officially day 3 till tonight's cycle right?
Hubby fed breakfast this morning before I got up but he couldn't remember what time it was so I waited to test him this morning. I thought about grabbing it a while ago but was afraid I'd see a food spike and get all stressed out. Now I'm wondering how low he went lol.
Tugger seems to be handling the new drooler pretty well, doesn't seem to have phased him. He still comes out into the main part of the house and plops himself in the walking paths. He slapped her in the nose one good time yesterday so she's kind of nervous about him and is giving him his space. Hubby made a temporary gate/cat door for the hallway so we're keeping her up front and letting the kitties have the back all to themselves.
There was one fight last night. Hubby was sitting on the floor and she went up to him for pets, then Boo showed up for pets and in the nxt breath she was at his throat. Scared the p!ss out of hubby, he's never been around dogs fighting before... much less dogs this size. She did draw blood but when I yelled "NO!" she backed off. I crated her after that incident. She had had a long day and needed a chance to chill out for a while anyway.
I do think she's going into heat on us, which would explain part of the problem. I also suspect she's been bred. Maybe had a false pregnancy or stillbirths but I really think she's been bred. So we're watching things very closely. She's never unsupervised, and I'm going to have the rescue lady come over to meet with us. I think if hubby hears some of the stuff I've been telling him about training and rules from someone he'd consider a real "expert" he'll be more likely to adhere to said rules. This girl is not like Boomer in any way at all that I can see so far so we all have to learn some new stuff.
So far the only interest she's shown in the cats seems to be concern. She whines at them, almost like they're puppies? She worries about them. It's the only way I can explain it. Don't know if she just thinks they are strange little dogs or if some cat in her past has given her reason to be worried, but again, she's never unsupervised and we are watching like hawks.
