Tugger and Echo woke us up just in time for shot. I was really hating life for a few minutes there when I realized I'd only been asleep four hours but now I have coffee and later there may be a nap. But because no one was up at +10 there was still food down when I got the ps number.

Tugger, my little green tank, is showing a lot of blues but they are all low blues and he's coming back down from them so that's good. It's got me wondering if maybe the insulin is starting to go. Opened March 8th I think it was. I do not have more on hand to test my theory and in order to get more I'm going to need a script renewed. I really hate to spend the money if we're looking at a trial soon (antijinx!!!) because that is $200 I could use on something else (like new glasses for my blind self or to pay the water bill) but if he needs it, he needs it. I'm tempted to see if anyone has a spare pen I could buy from them than to buy an entire 5 pack or vial.

Otherwise, he's looking great :mrgreen:

I've been watching his curves invert -- pretty soon, might want to see what withholding insulin does. Not quite yet but it has been on my mind for days.

I posted in yesterday's condo as well this morning but we missed you yesterday and hope you feel better today I have a migraine myself this am I think Do Lous low number did it to me.

I'm looking at SS and trying to see if it looks like pooped out insulin -- I'm not seeing that but haven't thought about it long enough yet.

Glad to see you today.

One thought is to buy a vial vs. pens. The vial is about half the cost. The other possibility is to call around and see if you can purchase a single pen. I just bought a box of pens at the university medical center pharmacy and they do sell single pens. It may not be as convenient to go to a medical center rather than a big box pharmacy or a Costco, but you may be able to get one vs. five pens.

I thought about the vial but that's $100+ and on this tiny dose we'd hardly put a dent in it (the current one is over half full and most of what's come out of it has gone into the sink) so that's why I was thinking about a single pen. I'll make some calls and see if I can find someplace around here to sell me a single. I've read a couple of times about people getting singles from Costco so I think I'll try them first.

Morning Marvie and Tugger! I do have 3 cart in my fridge but just not sure how I would get it to you without it going bad. I did order it from Canada though so it came a long way from there and it was wrapped good in an icepack. hmmmmm let me know how your search goes and if you really need it we could figure it out! Would hate to see you spend the $$ on a new vial!!! Hope you have a happy Caturday!!!!Nice amps for Tugger, Scrabble gave me a 109 2 days ago, I was bummed but then realized how stupid I was! it's still normal!!

Hey...I was able to get a SINGLE pen at Sam's Club Pharmacy. You don't have to be a member to buy pharmacy (or beer/wine..but i wouldn't know abut that ;-) )
AND..they price match too. So I'd called around & had my best price on the box of 5 from Costco...they sold me a single for 1/5th of that price. They just called to price verify first. I got my syringes there also. I think I paid between $38-$39 for the one pen. Call 'em!


My adrenalin was still going after my close-call escape last night..so sleep didn't come easy. Feels like we just talked 20 minutes ago.
Tug's doing fine...you know he is. He's just got you spoiled in :mrgreen:

I can't help you out on the Lantus, now if you were on Lev.....I have 4 pens that I probably not be using. Sorry!

Will check again at +6.5 to see if he's still going down then or starts heading back up. Just fed lunch, this is the third meal/snack of the day and Tugger came and got me for it. They are cleaning the plates but I'm only putting out 2 cans of FF floor food and one on the counter each feeding, rather than a can per cat each time.

I don't think I would go to much trouble to get new insulin, if I were you (*anti-jinx*). :mrgreen:

ohhh nice he came down! I wish i could help with the insulin but we're on Levemir vials here due to extreme high dosing. Jen and Milo is also using Lev vials, so we're drawing dead over here in sunny Hampton Roads. Sure hope you won't need it!

Well, he came down but went back up. Not too bad though. Almost the same as his AMPS. He's eating meal number four now and if he keeps on like he's been doing we'll have one more mini-meal before I go to bed.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and let's all hope I won't need to replace the vial (antijinx!) He's staying pretty low blue so it's not going to throw him off track unless his numbers go crazy high right?

Knowing Tugger he's going to be heading off to his corner of the bed after dinner. I think I'll catch up on some DVR shows. Be back in a couple of hours =)

Hi Marvie, Our local Kinney's pharmacy will sell single pens for about $44. You should ask around. Lots of diabetic people can't afford to buy a box of 5. Tugger is looking fine. Sorry to hear you had a migraine. I get them, too--I call them my 3-day headaches-- but usually I can work through them (sometimes I get the aura without the headache!).
Hope all will continue to go well with Tugger and that you won't have to buy any more insulin (anti jinx).

I had wanted to withhold insulin soon so if it poops out that would be ok by me. ;-)
He eats pretty frequently that could be giving the lil' boost to blue.
ANTI JINX -- once he is in countdown you might want to feed three times a day. Smaller meals help the pancreas not work as hard. Lots of people like the smaller more frequent meals in countdown. Tugger already gets fed frequently so his would need to be smaller (if they are big now, I don't know). Sorry Tugger, I know you like your snacksus.
 
I can do smaller portions but I'll probably have to feed them a fourth time (bedtime) or else Echo and Tugger will both be waking us all up at 4am for food. Though, once hubby goes back to work that would be the ideal time for feeding. He used to feed them in the mornings, so if I leave out the food with instructions he'll get back into the habit.
