Happy Caturday, LL!

It's time for Pagan's weekly curve. As you can see from his SS, he's been running a bit high pre-shot (wasn't able to get any nadirs due to work) so I imagine he's due for an increase. We shall see what the day brings us.

WCR- He seems to be doing well, despite mobility issues. I started him on oral Methyl B12, 5mg each evening. I was surprised at how easy he is to pill! He was probably expecting a treat instead of a pill, since I do bribe him before and after testing. To try and preserve our carpets and our sanity, we got him diapers, which have also worked surprisingly well. They stay on, and catch the mess. I'm going to try and upload a picture. It's kind of tragically funny.

I guess that's it for now, back in a few hours.

Oh he is cute in his diaper reminds me of Do Lou in diapers which is on his profile but this was for spraying reasons. Hope the B12 helps him and Happy Caturday to you :mrgreen:

Haha, thanks Lisa! Pagan feels much better now that he knows he's not the only kitty who's ever had to wear diapers. He and Do Lou will have to commiserate sometime! :smile:

Still hanging out in the yellows. Back in a few hours...

What are the possibilities of getting at the minimum, a before bed spot check in the PM cycle? Many cats have lower numbers in the evenings and you are losing half of your data by not getting any checks at night. I'm also wondering if some of the higher pre-shot numbers are reflecting a bounce from lower mid-cycle numbers.

What kind of methyl-B12 are you using? Most of us mix it into food vs. pilling. I use a type that's in a capsule and I open it and stir it into Gabby's food. Others will crush a tablet and mix it in.

The nice response in this cycle does make it look as though you've been missing some action this week, Pagan is very likely going lower at night sometimes.

I'm giving him Source Naturals MethylCobalamin B-12, 5mg sublingual tablets. Link. He doesn't mind them at all, and this way I'm sure he's getting the full dose. Is there any benefit to crushing them up?

The only other times I could get without interfering with my sleep schedule are an AM +10 and PM +2, (5PM and 9PM ET, shots at 7 AM&PM) and I wasn't sure how useful either one of those would be. The vet wanted him to hang out at this dose for a while anyway, so I wasn't trying to gather too much data.

Should I give him a HC snack at this point? Or just retest in a bit and see where he's heading?

I'm not an expert, but I'll voice my opinion in the event that no one else pops in.

IMO, I wouldn't give a high-carb anything this far into the cycle unless he was below 50. I'd probably wait on giving a snack until you get a +7 number, since you don't have a lot of information about when his nadir actually is. That way you'll know if he's dropping still. And since he only dropped 50 points in two hours (from his +4), I don't think he's going to bottom out.

Just my thoughts. If he's between 50 and 60 at +7, maybe give him a LC snack. So no food, retest in an hour. :smile:

Thanks for the thoughts, Holly! That's where I was leaning, but this is only the second time I've seen him in the green, and instinctively got nervous. ;-)

Believe me, I understand. The first time Pablo went BLUE, I almost had a coronary! I remember that feeling of worry well. I still have that feeling on occasion!

I agree with Holly. If you are nervous about the numbers you could always get a +6.5 to see how fast the drop is going. If you are going to give a snack, I'd suggest LC to hopefully put Pagan on a surfboard.
 
And a nice green in the PM, as well! :mrgreen: And here I was, thinking he'd need an increase!

We'll test again shortly to see which direction he's heading, and then hopefully this bean can get some sleep.
